The Washington Mystics came up as the surprise element in this year’s league. Currently dwelling in the 10th position, the playoffs are not very far away for the team. After all, they are just a game and a half behind the Seattle Storm for the race to the eighth spot. Fortunately for them, the Mystics still have 12 games remaining to put their foot on the pedal. And they are aiming to do exactly that by adding Madison Scott to their side.
The Mystics are looking to rebuild. But in the process, a playoff spot would be an added perk for the team to cherish. And much to the delight of the fans, the likes of Kiki Iriafen and Sonia Citron are showing some phenomenal form. But one area that the team lacked was the position of the guard. And the inclusion of Scott will seemingly address the same.
Madison Scott Comes In To Address Washington Mystics’ Guard Woes
In a recent announcement, Scott has reportedly joined the team on a 7-day contract. This is a clever approach from the team. With a temporary deal, the team can observe her performance and reach a conclusion as to whether the 23-year-old will stay or be waived. However, a glance at Scott’s career will hint at why the Mystics were eager to sign her.
The former Dallas Wings athlete played five seasons at Ole Miss. Proving her worth in the NCAA realm, she was touted as one of the best in the SEC. Her final-year stats at Ole Miss are utterly impressive. Appearing in 33 games, the rookie averaged 11.8 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 3.7 assists.

To further add credibility to her impressive record, Scott has shooting percentages of 23.5 from the three-point line, 73.7 from the free-throw line, and 46.6 from the field. Another big advantage of the 23-year-old is her adaptability. She can take on the role of both a guard and a forward as per the team’s requirements. Surely, such an addition would come as a boon for the team. And together with Citron and Shakira Austin, Washington might pull off a miracle.

Next up, Shakira Austin’s resurgence is another reason for the Mystics to feel gleeful about. She has averaged a career-high 12.5 points from 27 games so far. Thus, with things looking rosy, fans cannot wait to see what happens next.
