The WNBA realm is buzzing at the moment. And Angel Reese seems to be at the heart of all the fiasco. In a recent statement on the Chicago Tribunal, the Sky star went off on her team’s poor run. Quite expectedly, the comment drew significant criticism. The likes of Kelsey Bone-Smith took a dislike to what the 23-year-old said. Surprisingly, despite all the backlashes, Reese’s comments might just hold enough weight.
Reese spoke about how things with the Chicago Sky are looking dismal at the moment. Having failed to qualify for the playoffs, the Chi-town Barbie had some harsh words. She pointed out that the team must immediately look towards securing some quality athletes for the next season. And while her outburst might have been inappropriate, the claims are pretty legit.
Angel Reese Has Some Viable Reason To Criticize Chicago Sky
The Sporting News’ Stephen Noh pointed out how all of Reese’s criticisms were wrong. Throughout the season, Chicago has been struggling significantly. With a dismal 10-32 win-loss record, the team is in desperate need of some quality athletes. Diving deep into Reese’s controversial interview, Noh pointed out that the Sky star had a context for her statements.

She stated that almost 21 of the 24 total All-Stars in the league will be free agents this offseason. Thus, the Chi-town Barbie tried to imply that the front office really needs to rope in some quality players among the All-Stars to bolster the roster. Noh also heaped praises on the Sky star’s own performance.
“Reese has followed up on a promising rookie year by averaging 14.7 points and a league-leading 12.6 rebounds this season. She has addressed the biggest criticism about her game, improving her oft-maligned field goal percentage by 6.7 percent this season. Her 45.8 percent from the field now ranks in the top third in the league and No. 3 on her team,” wrote Noh.

Surely, such narratives doing the rounds are good news for the 23-year-old. NFL star LeSean McCoy, too, defended Reese for her comments. Unfortunately, that was not the case with her teammate, Courtney Vandersloot.
Courtney Vandersloot Dismisses Angel Reese’s Predictions
The 23-year-old rookie star had some harsh statements directed towards her teammates. And Vandersloot, too, was one of them. The 36-year-old had a stunted season this year due to her ACL injury. Speaking about the veteran, Reese stated that other than Kamilla Cardoso and herself, there will not be any other returners for the upcoming season. But Vandersloot does not seem to be okay with the prediction. Meanwhile, in a recent statement, she confirmed that she will be coming back for the next season.

“Contrary to what people say or think, my age is absolutely not a factor. I am coming back. I’m gonna come back better than ever because that’s what I’ve done. I’ve put myself in the position to come back and compete at this age,” said Vandersloot.
Surely, things are looking quite complicated for Reese. With some serious question marks over her future at the Chicago Sky, fans will be waiting to see what comes next.
