As March approaches, the WNBA fast-tracks its discussions with the WNBPA on the Collective Bargaining Agreement to reach terms agreeable to all. First, the league set March 10 as the deadline, and from that date onward, the WNBA and WNBPA held continuous meetings that lasted 12+ hours each. The talks were very fruitful, as WNBA players report real progress toward a landmark new CBA.
Apart from the WNBA and WNBPA, another group that was tirelessly working on the CBA was a group of reporters who, even at the meeting spot, provided hourly updates. FOS’s Annie Constabile is one of those who received huge praise from fans for her reporting.

WNBA Analyst Annie Constabile Receives Support From Fans
Reporting from the spot and posting updates were helpful to fans eagerly awaiting positive news from the CBA discussions. As much as fans cared about the 2026 season and wanted the CBA deal completion on time, reporters also showed their ‘human side’ while reporting and analyzed the situations from the fans’ perspective.
This had a huge impact on fan support, with a few fans even sending food and coffee to the reporting location. In a recent interview, Constabile opened up about the support from fans. “I do have to say thank you to everybody who has sent coffee, cookies, pizza, doughnuts, lawn chairs for us to sit in. It has been such not only heartwarming, a feeling, but its been a reflection of the appetite for this on-the-ground, just daily coverage of Women’s sport,” Constabile said.
"This is just a prime example that people want this type of coverage… people are eating this up."

While the reporter mentioned fans’ hunger for updates and appreciation for the reporting, traditional giants in sports reporting, ESPN, also drops upbeat WNBA news as it replaces the 35-year-old iconic show for women’s sports.

It was not only Constabile who took toll of the reporting, but ESPN’s team was also on the ground, and its star reporter also received similar love.
ESPN Reporter Finds Funny Side Of WNBA CBA Coverage
Apart from Constabile, ESPN’s Alexa Philippou was also one of the reporters who received significant fan support for her updates and news on CBA discussions. She covered the CBA details extensively and recently joked about her ‘tiring’ situation on social media.
On her official X (formerly Twitter) account, she provided an individual update and wrote, “Update from Day 3 of marathon WNBA CBA negotiations (and month five of intense coverage): I have found, at age 30, my first gray hairs.”

While this was the condition of most of the reporters and analysts for the last four months, fans loved her fun side and showed support. Luckily for them and fans, Cathy Engelbert now has March 16 as the deadline date for CBA talks, as the WNBA might look to wrap up the CBA quickly.
