For the WNBA fans, players will be back in action, in the 3-on-3 format, as the Unrivaled announced the second season start date as January 5. The rosters are also complete with two new teams and twelve new players. Paige Bueckers is one of the high-profile names added to the roster, having signed a three-season contract.
But a few top names also miss the cut in the second season, including Angel Reese and Sabrina Ionescu. Fans trolled Reese and Ionescu after the Unrivaled snub, but as for those who are playing, the teams are yet to be confirmed.
A WNBA Analyst tried to predict a team for the debutant UConn star and paired her with another UConn legend – Breanna Stewart, to make things more interesting.
WNBA Analyst Pairs Paige Bueckers With Breanna Stewart For Unrivaled Team
The roster for the Unrivaled season two is full of WNBA superstars. Many talented and fan-favourite players are back in the lineup. But the headline maker is the Dallas Wings’ rookie who dazzled in her first season. Many eyes are on her Unrivaled debut as WNBA analyst, Chelsea Leite predicts her team with a possible winning combination.

Explaining her idea, Bleacher Report contributor wrote, “The idea of pairing Stewart and Paige Bueckers may have UConn fans salivating. Each player represents a different era of college basketball excellence, and the idea of seeing how they’d fit is intriguing. Stewart and Sue Bird’s two-woman game in Seattle was always thrilling, and pairing the four-time NCAA champ with the 2025 WNBA Rookie of the Year could bring back that excellence.”

She even added that Veronica Burton could be the third star on the team to challenge for the title. The Most Improved Player of the Year winner was an influential star at the Valkyries and could be a game-changing addition to Stewart’s young team. She added that the Buckers-Stewart duo can work similarly to Sue Bird and Breanna Stewart’s duo at the Seattle Storm.
As for the 23-year-old, after her incredible first season, she will be hoping for better support in the second year. One positive thing would be the stars of the WNBA draft.
Paige Bueckers Keeping Eyes On 2026 WNBA Draft
The WNBA 2026 season start might be in question following the rocky CBA discussions. However, analyst Chiney Ogwumike shares a significant reason why the WNBA is unlikely to go into a lockout despite the CBA deadline extension. While the teams are also keeping their fingers crossed (especially the new expansion teams), they are preparing for the WNBA draft.
Interestingly, the Dallas Wings may once again secure a lottery draft pick, enabling them to sign a top talent from the 2026 WNBA draft. There are the top five prospects of the 2026 WNBA Draft, which also include Azzi Fudd, PB’s girlfriend, and the Wings would look to reunite the UConn duo.
So, whether in Unrivaled or in WNBA, the 2025 NCAA champion might land a UConn superstar as her teammate anyhow.
