Caitlin Clark is easily one of the biggest names in the WNBA right now. The Indiana Fever rookie has star power, undeniable talent, and the potential to become the face of the league one day—but she’s not quite there yet.
Surprisingly, WNBA analyst Andraya Carter has someone else in mind. While many fans might expect names like Angel Reese, Sabrina Ionescu, or Breanna Stewart to top the list, Carter went in a different direction, choosing a standout Aces player that few saw coming.
Andraya Carter Names A’ja Wilson Over Caitlin Clark As Face Of WNBA
There’s no denying the buzz Clark has brought to the WNBA. Her arrival has skyrocketed the league’s visibility, with Indiana Fever games drawing national attention. But despite the hype, analyst Andraya Carter believes it’s still too early to crown Clark as the face of the league.

She spoke about longevity, considering Clark’s age, and she didn’t want that burden to come on her. Because Carter strictly drew a line between popularity and representation of the league. She agreed that Clark is popular butt she has long way to go, before she becomes face of the WNBA league.
“It’s different than being the most popular player or even the most exciting player in the W, which is clearly Caitlin Clark. The face of those two leagues is the player that has been in it long enough to win championships and to understand what it means to succeed at the highest level. She has her signature shoe. Her marketing is going crazy. She’s won at the highest level. She’s won three MVPs. So to me, I still think of A’ja as the face of the league,” Andraya Carter said.

Some fans might agree, while some might disagree, but Clark is a generational talent. Even though she is young for now, Clark’s got so much to learn. She will eventually be the face of the league one day. But, for now, she has to settle for being popular. She was already going through an injury before she made her comeback against the Golden State Valkyrie.
Caitlin Clark And The Fever’s Lost To The Valkyrie
On Wednesday, Indiana Fever standout Caitlin Clark returned to the court against the Golden State Valkyries after a five-game absence. However, her comeback was far from smooth. Clark showed signs of rust, finishing with just 10 points on a rough shooting night. She went 4-of-12 from the field, adding five rebounds, six assists, and one steal, but also committed four turnovers in the Fever’s 80–61 loss.
Clark wasn’t the only one who struggled. The Valkyries shut down the Fever offense across the board. Kelsey Mitchell was the only starter to score in double figures, but she also had a tough night, shooting just 3-of-13. It was a letdown for fans who had eagerly awaited Clark’s return, only to watch the team deliver one of its most disappointing performances of the season.
