The CBA discussions now have just around 100 hours as per the WNBA’s deadline of March 10. There is still a massive gap between the players’ association and the league’s offers, especially on the commercial front. But as per analyst Rachel DeMita, the league had been aware of this possibility and waited for the moment to get its terms on the deal.
The analyst pointed out the letter from Kelsey Plum and Breanna Stewart, revealing a rift in WNBA union leadership over CBA talks, mentioning that the league was waiting for the exact moment.

Rachel DeMita Puts WNBA On Notice
The league and players were supposed to be working together for the Collective Bargaining Agreement, looking to better the work environment and also the benefits for both parties. But the actual situation on the paper was completely different. Many players from the association constantly targeted the league for poor efforts in the discussions, while the league kept making small changes in its proposal, keeping the key points the same
Speaking about the same on her recent video, the analyst said, “Honestly, it feels like the WNBA is playing them like a little puppet. The league has literally been sitting back… smirking like let them (WNBPA members) duke it out, eventually they are going to agree to something.”

She even questioned and called the WNBPA’s actions ‘unprofessional’ with the clap backs at the league, and even put a bad light on the league every time. With many unknowns, the former reporter said that the players might not be behind all the negativity, but the PAs’ work still has to be under scrutiny.

Even though DeMita broke down most of the angles of the ‘stalled’ CBA negotiations, the direct interviews and statements from the players show their discontent with the league’s offers. Ironically, the WNBPA took a survey, as planned, and checked how many players are still backing the 15% revenue-share offer from the WNBA.
WNBPA’s VP Issues Warning For WNBA Over CBA Talks
Three-time WNBA champions and WNBPA vice president had been away from the spotlight but recently opened up on her views and the PA’s views on the league’s offers.
In the NBA Today Show, the former Seattle Storm forward said, “We are at a place where we feel the proposals the league has sent haven’t been good ones. We want to continue to fight for what we know we deserve, and we hope that at some point the league decides to have that sentiment towards this as well.”

Both parties continued to maintain the ‘desire’ to work towards the goal of the CBA and having the 2026 season on time, but the current situation is very opposite to their ‘plans’, and fans have to wait for ‘constructive works’ to see the possible outcome of the talks.
