Paige Bueckers is looking quite unstoppable at the moment. Playing in her rookie year, the 23-year-old is continuing to take some giant strides. Take, for example, the recent game against the Los Angeles Sparks. After putting up a stellar show, the Wings had to bow out with a 96-97 defeat. But even in the face of defeat, Bueckers stood tall. So much so that even the WNBA had to stand up and take note.
Bueckers already had her eyes on a very elite record ahead of her recent outing. With 141 assists to her name, the star rookie needed just a couple more to pass the newly signed Indiana Fever star Odyssey Sims. And while she surpassed the hurdle with effortless ease, the WNBA could not help but applaud.
Paige Bueckers Lauded By The WNBA After Yet Another Incredible Display
The 23-year-old is bringing back memories of Caitlin Clark. Just like her Indiana Fever counterpart, the 2025 no.1 overall pick is setting the WNBA stage on fire. Now, coming to her recent antics, the Wings guard dropped 29 points in a losing cause. But that was not the highlight of the night. She also chipped in with four rebounds and five assists.
Following the conclusion of the game, Bueckers’ tally of assists shot up to 146. And this was enough for her to dethrone Sims. Incidentally, Sims set the record back in 142, when the franchise was named the Tulsa Shock. Meanwhile, owing to such a pleasant performance, the official WNBA account posted her achievement on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“YEAH ROOK! Tonight in the Wings vs. Sparks battle, Paige Bueckers (146) passed Odyssey Sims (142) for the most assists by a rookie in franchise history,” the post read.

The star rookie did get a golden opportunity to take her team through. In the dying moments of the game, Bueckers had a shot that unfortunately did not go in. Sadly, this has been her season in a nutshell. While the 23-year-old has stood tall, her team has failed to cross the line, much like when they fell to the Washington Mystics a week back.
