With the WNBA, the vintage basketball is so back. It is now on a return trail after a fun weekend. Fans are now once again watching some physical plays that were missing. The basketball court turned into a wrestling game on July 22, as veteran Nneka Ogwumike manhandled her opponent, Luisa Geiselsoder, during the Seattle Storm vs. Dallas Wings game.
The Storm forward later tried to instigate the Wings’ Center, who was still on the ground. Luckily, they were separated before the moment got any uglier. The 35-year-old got a flagrant one foul, but fans were divided on the official’s decision.
Fans React To Nneka Ogwumike’s Feisty Behavior
The unexpected moment came in the third quarter of the match with under four minutes left to play. The Wings completely controlled the play in the second half and took a 56-44 lead. Lexie Brown attempted a midrange shot that bounced off the rim. The former LA Sparks star was going for the rebound, but Geiselsoder was too close to her and looking to box her out.
Frustrated by the play, the 10-time All-Star grabbed the defender and put her down with a 180-degree spin move. She fell on the ground but quickly got up and taunted the Dallas player. Behind the referee’s ‘emergency’ whistle, players rapidly ran to the spot and pulled Storm forward away, who was still looking to talk down her opponent.
After the play, fans at the Climate Pledge Arena were cheering the home side. After the review, the 2016 WNBA champion received a flagrant one-foul.
One fan was happy with Seattle forward’s reaction and wrote, “Yeahhh big Nek got active.”

While fans have their opinion on the play, the Seattle Storm will look to get back on winning ways after a shocking loss against the Wings.
Nneka Ogwumike And Seattle Storm Looking To Get Back To Business
The Seattle Storm has always been at the top of the ‘W.’ In 25 seasons played so far, the side has maintained its position in the top four ranking 17 times, winning 4 WNBA titles (most in the league). But the last two seasons have been difficult for them, with many key players retiring and fewer trades in the offseason.

The 2016 MVP joined the team in 2024 and put them on her back, finishing third in the league standings. This season, they kept their core intact, trading only Jewel Lloyd to the Aces and adding some young talent. At the mid-stage of the season, the Storm had a 14-10 record and acquired fourth position.
Skylar Diggins and Ogwumike are their leading scorers, with an average of just over 17 points. The 2025 WNBA All-Star record holder guard leads the team in assists, while the forward has the most rebounds (7.5 per game) for her side, looking to put the franchise back on the winning track.
