The Las Vegas Aces vs the Phoenix Mercury matchup was an interesting one, with two former winners combining for three finals appearances in the last four seasons. Even though they are on very different sides from those seasons, the competition was tough, with the WNBA expecting spectators to turn out in large numbers.
After all, the Aces set a semifinals viewership record when they played against the Indiana Fever a series ago. Yet, the low prices for the finals series tickets surprised fans, who trolled the WNBA, using the Fever games as examples.
Fans Troll Las Vegas Aces vs. Phoenix Mercury WNBA Finals Ticket Price
The WNBA’s rise had many parameters, and viewership, with spectators coming in to watch the games being one of them. There is no doubt that the league aims to capitalize on high attendance for the games, charging fans exorbitantly for tickets. Many fans showed discontent with ticket prices for the defending champions, the New York Liberty’s postseason games at the Barclays Center.

So, by virtue of it, fans expected WNBA finals’ ticket prices to outprice the Liberty game or even the Fever game prices. But the actual scenario was completely opposite, as the lowest price for the Aces vs Mercury game was $35, while the courtside price was $208.
The get-in price for tonight’s Game 1 matchup between the Aces and Mercury is just $35…

Fans didn’t let this opportunity go, and let the league hear about it with Napheesa Collier making the WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert’s diminishing comments about Caitlin Clark.

The Indiana Fever lost the semifinal series against the Aces in five games, but they even had a higher average ticket value than the WNBA finals games. The Fever vs Aces ticket prices at the Gainbridge Field House Arena were $23 and as high as $ 876 despite CC not playing in the game.
Las Vegas Aces Clinch A Comeback Win Against Phoenix Mercury
The ticket prices didn’t affect the entertainment value of the game as both the Aces and Mercury delivered a nail-biting game at the Michelob ULTRA Arena. At one moment, the hosts were nine points behind, where the Mercury controlled the paint region and also were able to score freely.
Becky Hammon switched her defensive game plan to zone defense in the final 12 minutes, allowing her wing players to make runs to score easy buckets and also stop the offensive flow of the Phoenix side. Dana Evens capitalized on the opportunity presented to her and scored nine points in the fourth quarter, nearly outscoring the whole Mercury team. Evans also set a unique WNBA finals record with her impact on both ends of the floor.
The fourth-seeded team still had a chance with Satou Sabally’s three-pointer or Alyssa Thomas’ free throws. But both superstars missed the clutch moment, allowing the Aces to take Game 1.
