The WNBA midseason signings are wild in 2025. The franchises making moves to better their roster for the postseason are not new for fans. But DeWanna Bonner’s move to the Mercury team and Vanloo’s move to the LA Sparks made a lot of buzz. Amid this, the New York Liberty pulled off a signing for the 2025 season.
The reigning champions ensured that there would be no loopholes in their already stacked roster. During the All-Star break, they added former WNBA Finals MVP and 2024 Olympics leading scorer to their lineup.
New York Liberty Adds Champion Forward To Roster
Standing second in the league, New York Liberty has been without center Jonquel Jones for a month now due to injury. She is expected to return to the rotation in the next game, but the front office has already added a backup for their 2024 WNBA Finals MVP.
According to reports, the title holders have signed Belgian superstar Emma Meesseman. The 2019 Finals MVP has spent eight seasons with the Mystics and played for the Chicago Sky in 2022. Averaging 12 points, five rebounds, three assists, one steal, and a block per game, the 32-year-old star will be a massive boost to their frontline.
The Belgian star should join the team after completing her visa application process. Apart from this, the side has already added former Valkyries player Stephanie Talbot, who is filling up their roster. The two players will compete for with talented stars like Jonquel Jones, Breanna Stewart, Leonie Fiebich, Kennedy Burke, Isabelle Harrison and Nyara Sabally for the game time.
New York Liberty Has High Hopes On Emma Meesseman
The championship side chose the champion player to boost their chances of retaining the title. The 2013 draft pick played for Fenerbahce and won the 2023 and 2025 EuroBasket titles with an MVP season and All-Star selection.
