The entire WNBA roster is waiting for one thing at the moment. And that is to witness the CBA deal finally come into effect. By pushing the deadline further, the league leadership has drawn heavy backlash from the players.
Meanwhile, after NBA commissioner Adam Silver pointed out how the player will have an increased salary but no revenue sharing, things got further heated. The WNBPA fired back at Silver for his comments.
Now, as the CBA negotiations stall, the threat of a work stoppage looms large. And under such circumstances, the likes of Caitlin Clark will have some important decisions to make.
Will Caitlin Clark Opt For The Work Stoppage?
Clark is undoubtedly the biggest name in the WNBA at the moment. Garnering brand deals with giant companies like Nike, Gatorade, and State Farm, the 23-year-old rookie star does not have a financial crunch at the moment.

As she is one of the top players with a steady income outside of the WNBA, Clark has a lot of flexibility. In fact, if the work stoppage does come into play, she can actually sit back and weather the storm of inactivity for a subsequent amount of time.

However, another alternative that Clark has on her hands is to take a lower salary. With the brands giving her a handsome amount, the 2024 Rookie of the Year might opt to take less salary and, in turn, allow her team to acquire more quality players to build a stellar team.
Meanwhile, with all the permutations and combinations going on, the likes of Napheesa Collier have voiced concerns against Clark’s meager WNBA salary.
Napheesa Collier Lashes Out At Caitlin Clark’s Meagre $80k WNBA Salary
Collier has been a frontline voice for the ongoing players’ protest. Lashing out at Cathy Engelbert, she called out the authorities, accusing them of a lack of accountability. And as her statements gained a lot of traction, Collier joked about getting fined for speaking against the WNBA.

Recently, continuing her protest, the Minnesota Lynx star further pointed out how Clark has been getting underpaid despite bringing in a boom to the league.
“The amount of money that Caitlin Clark has made the league is insane, and she’s getting 0% of it because we have no rev share,” Collier said. “She gets less than $80,000 a year, and she’s bringing in, like, hundreds of millions of dollars. It’s insane.”

Thus, the entire situation is looking pretty complicated at the moment. And with no signs of progress yet, everyone waits to see what happens next.
