The 2025 WNBA All-Star Weekend is officially underway. The much-awaited event will take place on Saturday, July 19, at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. This year’s spotlight will shine on the highly anticipated matchup between Team Clark and Team Collier.
However, the lead-up to the game hasn’t been without setbacks. Despite being named captain, Caitlin Clark will not play the game. She suffered a right groin injury in the final minute of Tuesday night’s win over the Connecticut Sun. Additionally, Phoenix Mercury’s Satou Sabally will also not show up to the game because of an ankle injury. Nevertheless, their replacement has already been announced!
WNBA Announces Caitlin Clark Replacement After Injury
On Thursday afternoon, the league announced the replacements for Caitlin Clark and Satou Sabally. The event will now feature Brittney Sykes of the Washington Mystics and Brionna Jones of the Atlanta Dream. While Sykes will replace Clark, Jones will take Sabally’s place on Team Collier.
The WNBA’s official handle took to X (formerly Twitter) to share the updated roster that confirmed the replacements for Clark and Sabally.

It is worth mentioning that both players have had a solid season so far. Sykes is averaging a career-best 17.1 points and 4.4 assists in her ninth WNBA season and will make her All-Star debut. Meanwhile, Jones, who will appear in the All-Star Game for the fourth time, has averaged 13.3 points and 7.8 rebounds this season.
This is the first time the Indiana Fever is hosting All-Star Weekend. But for many fans, it’s a tough moment, especially for those hoping to see Caitlin Clark in action. The 23-year-old American Basketball Player received the historic amount of votes among fans (1,293,526), and everyone wanted her to shine on her home court.

Caitlin Clark Shared A Message For Her Team
The Fever star shared a message via the Indiana Fever’s X(formerly Twitter), expressing her excitement for Indianapolis hosting the WNBA All-Star Weekend and thanking the Host Committee. Though excited for the event, she also expressed disappointment at being unable to play in the 3-Point Contest due to the need to rest her body.
“I am incredibly sad and disappointed to say I can’t participate in the 3-Point Contest or the All-Star Game. I have to rest my body...will still be at Gainbridge Fieldhouse for all the action, and I’m looking forward to helping Sandy coach our team to a win.”

Nevertheless, Clark mentioned that she would still show up at Gainbridge Fieldhouse and was ready to help coach Sandy to make it a win. While the new players have already been locked, it remains to be seen how both teams fare on Saturday.
