Amid the WNBA and WNBPA CBA standoff, the league got some positive news as the players’ association agreed to a multi-year deal with Panini America, a trading card company. The step signifies the association’s willingness to stay connected with the league, as the WNBA also has a licensing deal with the firm.
According to reports, the WNBPA is not happy with the WNBA’s latest CBA proposal. However, the deal with Panini provides the league with a lifeline, although it does not directly impact the CBA terms or contracts.

WNBPA Signs New Multi-Year Deal With Panini
As the WNBA’s popularity grew, many related businesses flourished. One of which was the trading card that saw a 100X growth since it first started the business with the league.
Notably, the next renewal had to be a blockbuster one, and the WNBPA secured the most lucrative licensing agreement in women’s sports history. “Collaborating with the WNBPA has shown how strong this market can be, and we are excited to keep innovating and expanding our product offerings for fans and collectors everywhere,” Panini America CEO Mark Warsop said.
A shared history of making history. A partnership built to shape the future.

WNBA also showed that it valued Panini’s efforts and benefited from its deal with the firm. The league’s executive director, Terri Carmichael Jackson, said, “Panini gets our athletes and the value they bring to basketball and sports culture. They have been invested partners every step of the way, and now we’re ready to deliver even more of the moments and products fans are demanding from the women who drive this sport.”

While the new agreement keeps Panini as the exclusive creator of WNBA trading cards for the foreseeable future, there is one player who still holds the record for the highest valued Panini Trading Card.
Caitlin Clark’s Panini Rookie Card Holds Women’s Sports Auction Record
Early in the 2025 season, the Fever guard’s 2024 Panini Flawless WNBA Platinum Rookie Logowoman Patch Auto 1/1 card set a record as the highest value card with a whopping $660,000 sale. The massive sale is still a record in women’s sports trading cards. Interestingly, CC occupies the top three positions in minted card sale auctions.
While the new deal certainly helps the WNBA and WNBPA commercially, the Fever guard’s indirect impact on such benefits is very evident. It was the key point in Napheesa Collier’s speech, who demanded more for Clark when the league handed its proposal during the October deadline.
