The 2025 All-Star game was different. With a surge in popularity, Gainebridge Fieldhouse was buzzing. As Team Clark and Team Collier had stacked WNBA stars, there was a surprise waiting for all the fans. Ahead of the start of the game, the WNBA athletes came wearing customized t-shirts. And it read, ‘Pay Us What You Owe Us.’
This was clearly a reference to the ongoing negotiations between the WNBPA and CBA. And while the athletes do have the right to demand fair pay, WNBA legend Candace Parker was not impressed. Sitting down with Aliyah Boston, Parker criticized the antics. However, in return, Boston did have a clarification in their support.

As per the stats, the NBA divides its revenue in a 50-50 ratio with the players. Unfortunately, that is not the same with the WNBA. In fact, the WNBA players get only 9 percent of the league’s total revenue. And this is where all the conflict began. However, in an episode of the ‘Post Moves’ podcast, Candace Parker expressed her frustration.
Parker stated that after protesting vehemently with customized shirts, the actual quality of the game was “awful.” She also stated that without Caitlin Clark, it was important for the players to deliver a power-packed
performance to further strengthen their grounds. However, Aliyah Boston immediately replied, backing the WNBA players fully.
“Here’s the thing. We come out every single night and we show why we deserve the money we deserve. An all-star game, an all-star game where when we have another game in two days, I think that is okay to just go out there and hoop and have some fun because on Tuesday we were back at it and we were playing and we were showing once again why we deserve to get paid,” said Boston.

But despite Boston’s clarification, Parker was not ready to step back. She debated that the All-Star game could have been the best platform for the WNBA stars to showcase their talent. And not only Parker, Rebecca Lobo too, called out the WNBA players’ approach during the game.
Rebecca Lobo Seconds Candace Parker Lashing Out At The Four-Point Shot Rule
This year, the WNBA All-Star game had an interesting rule. Just behind the three-point line, there were four-point shooting points. Throughout the game, most athletes continued to take shots for fours. This did not sit well with former WNBA star Rebecca Lobo, who criticized the game for its lack of quality.
“I’ve got an opinion that might not be popular, I guess I’ll share it… So I love that AT&T donates money to charity when players hit the 4-point shot, that’s phenomenal… I don’t like the 4-point shot. The WNBA All-Star Game was more competitive before the players were all just launching the ball,” Lobo said during the live broadcast.

Thus, with things looking complicated, fans are eager to see which way things take a turn in the future.
