The Indiana Fever has been dealing with a lot of injuries this season. With Stephanie White updating about ‘frustrating’ Caitlin Clark injury status, the team has been struggling ever since. However, apart from Clark’s injury, Fever has more woes to deal with. They are currently staring at a severely depleted squad with Aari McDonald, Sydney Colson, and Sophie Cunningham missing. And with so many prominent names absent, people have urged Aliyah Boston to take on more responsibility.
Boston had a lot of noise accompanying her when she first stepped into the WNBA. Back in 2023, the 23-year-old was the top draft pick. After the Fever drafted her, fans expected Boston to play a pivotal role. While she could not do so earlier, a WNBA analyst is encouraging her to do so now.
Aliyah Boston Urged To Take More Responsibility As Indiana Fever Push For Playoffs
Boston has been on and off with her performances. But this year, things have looked quite bright with the 23-year-old. However, with the team struggling with so many injuries, analyst Tony East had an important message for Boston. In a recent episode of ‘Locked On Women’s Basketball,’ East pointed out how the Fever star has adapted her playing style accordingly.

East also stressed that Boston is showing glimpses of her incredible talent, and Stephanie White should take note. The analyst also urged White to ensure that the 23-year-old was more involved in the offensive play.
“If she is really energized, setting good screens, getting into open space, getting the ball, demanding attention from the defense, that gives the Fever another way of playing that doesn’t just rely on their ball handlers getting to the cup to bend a defense,” East said.

Surely enough, Boston has looked quite impressive in recent games. Playing against the Lynx, the 23-year-old dropped 15 points. And in the game against the Sun, the Fever star had 14 points under her belt to show. Meanwhile, giving further proof of her elevated performance, Boston recently broke Caitlin Clark’s record.
Aliyah Boston Goes Past Caitlin Clark In Double-Doubles Record
It was a special moment for the Indiana Fever. Trailing by more than 20 points, the team came back to win the game courtesy of a Kelsey Mitchell masterclass. The emotions were so high that Stephanie White failed to control her emotions after the win. Thankfully, her joy just doubled for Boston. Apart from winning the game, she also achieved a personal milestone.

With 13 rebounds and 14 points, the 2023 rookie recorded her 15th double-double for the team. And she surpassed none other than Clark with this performance. The Fever star had 14 double-doubles while playing in her rookie season. However, despite overtaking Clark, Boston did not forget to reflect on the impact of the 23-year-old phenom on her opponents.
She said, “I think when you have Caitlin on the floor, everything is automatically spaced. The floor is spaced, defenses are high-in because she comes across half court, you can set an early drag, and there’s a deep three going up.”
Thus, with things looking a bit rosy for Boston, it now remains to be seen if she can contribute more towards taking Fever to the playoffs.
