The Indiana Fever were fielding a depleted side this year. With the likes of Caitlin Clark, Sophie Cunningham, Aari McDonald, and Sydney Colson out due to injury, things looked pretty grim for the Fever.
Thankfully, it was the duo of Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell that helped Stephanie White steady the Fever ship. Owing to her incredible performance this year, Boston featured on the Lead WNBA Athletes Forbes’ 2025 30 Under 30 list.
However, as the Fever made it to the semifinals this year, Boston seems to have been wowed by Mitchell’s on-court prowess. And recently, she termed her the best 1-on-1 player in the WNBA.

Aliyah Boston Hails Kelsey Mitchell As The Best In WNBA
Mitchell was on fire this year. With things looking incredibly tough for the Fever, the 30-year-old played a blinder to propel the season for Indiana. And one of her biggest plus points was her incredible swiftness and speed with which Mitchell operated on the field.
And that particular virtue made her a nightmare material for the opponent’s defense. Speaking about the Fever star, Boston recently heaped praises on Mitchell in a December 3 ‘Post Moves’ podcast episode.
“Kelsey, it’s like, you literally can’t [stay in front of her]… And she’s waiting for you to just go for something, and she’s gone. Like, Kelsey is going to cook. That speed, that speed is going to take off,” said Boston.

Surely, this was a huge compliment for Mitchell coming from her Fever teammate. And owing to both of their incredible runs this year, Mitchell and Boston made franchise history with Fever’s dual All-WNBA selections. Meanwhile, Boston was not the one to praise Mitchell. The Fever star also got her flowers from Caitlin Clark.
Caitlin Clark Reacts To Kelsey Mitchell’s Heartfelt Exit Message
The 29-year-old star player lost her father back in 2024. And while that came as a shock, Mitchell decided to push through the grief and keep playing. Thus, when she had such a successful season this time around, Mitchell could not help but feel emotional.

In her exit message, she wrote, “had to get to it differently than everybody else. grief had me excited for a small piece of it… indifferent for majority of it. charged it ALL to the game. ain’t no life jacket come for me, word to Him. Pops blueprint kept me in survival mode… that survival made me. i don’t know what it all really meant…. just that it meant i stood on all 10 about it. the motto remains: shut up and go hunting. zero, gone.”
Immediately, Clark spotted the message and, knowing the significance, commented, “So lucky to be your teammate!!! Proud of you Kels.”
Thus, with a lot of good things happening this year, fans are looking forward to another stellar year from the Indiana star next year.
