The Indiana Fever’s impressive season came to an end following a 3-2 series loss against the Las Vegas Aces in the semifinals. Standout performer for the team, Aliyah Boston dropped a heartfelt message for her teammates after the exit.
Although it was a team performance that put the Fever team in the semifinal series of the 2025 WNBA finals, AB was impactful on both ends of the floor and was the most consistent player from the side. For her efforts, the center received an ALL-WNBA Defensive Team honor.
Aliyah Boston Secures WNBA All-Defensive Selection
Playing a crucial role in the Indian Fever’s run throughout the 2025 season, the former South Carolina forward was the difference maker for Stephanie White. She recorded the most rebounds in a season, a record for the Fever. She was clutch in the defensive end, also with her shot blocks and steals.

For her performances, the star earned a spot in the WMNA All-Defensive second team. This is her first All-Defensive honor, making her the fifth Fever player to achieve the feat. Previous winners included Tully Bevilaqua (six times), Tamika Catchings (12 times), Katie Douglas (five times), and Briann January (six times). Also, at 24, the Fever star is the youngest Center to win the Defensive team accolade.

The 2025 WNBA ALL-Defensive first team includes Napheesa Collier and Alanna Smith from the Minnesota Lynx, while the Storm’s Gabby Williams also earned a spot. Finalists stars Alyssa Thomas and A’ja Wilson complete the list. Along with Boston, Veronica Burton, Rhyne Howard, Ezi Magbegor, and Breanna Stewart make the All WNBA Defensive Second Team list.

In the case of AB, the forward was the mainstay for Stephanie White in the absence of multiple star players. Combining well with three-time champion Natasha Howard, the three-time All-Star held the defensive lines while she assisted Kelsey Mitchell at the offensive end.
Aliyah Boston Shows Massive Improvement In Her Record-Setting Season
The 2023 rookie set the franchise’s rebounding records in every season, and with 361 rebounds in 2025, she set a new high for the stats. She finished the season fourth in total rebounds across the WNBA. Aliyah Boston also made Indiana Fever history with a stellar performance against the Storm, completing her 1000 rebounds in the fewest games as a Fever star.
On the offensive end, her free-throw percentage improved to 81% from 74% in her rookie season. The youngster also recorded a career-best 15-4 points average with 3.9 assists per game, taking over the offensive duty in the absence of other Fever stars.
Her former coach, Dawn Staley, sees a future MVP in Boston, and the Fever forward’s improvement hints at the same.
