The Indiana Fever has been going through a lean phase lately. Suffering from a swarm of losses, the team suddenly finds its playoff hopes in a precarious position. And one of the main reasons for such a poor showing is undoubtedly the piling up of injuries, so much so that legend Sheryl Swoopes sent a reality check for the Fever. And further heightening the fans’ tensions, Lexie Hull recently suffered an injury scare, the impact of which drew a reaction from Aliyah Boston.
Fever played the Minnesota Lynx in their recent outing. And while they lost the game, a clash involving Hull saw her take an elbow to her face. Immediately, as the camera panned towards Boston, she had a pained expression.
Aliyah Boston In Shock After Witnessing Lexie Hull Face Hit
Despite the game going in favor of the Lynx, there was no shortage of action. Likewise, during the fourth quarter, Hull had a hard tussle with Lynx’s Kalya McBride. While trying to secure a rebound, McBride swung her elbow, which hit Hull’s face in full flow. Immediately after the impact, the 25-year-old took to the ground, grimacing in significant pain.

As the camera panned towards her teammates, it caught a glimpse of Aliyah Boston. And she looked visibly stunned by the sheer intensity of the impact. Boston could be seen covering her mouth with her hands in an attempt to hide her shock. After going down hard, Hull immediately reached for her jaw. She also received medical treatment and retired to the bench immediately afterward.

However, all of this did not hinder Hull’s progress in the game. Putting up a brave face, Hull finished the game with a career-high 23 points. Stephanie White duly applauded her aggressive efforts. Meanwhile, pressure on the Fever has seen Boston urged to step up and lead from the middle.

Analyst Tony East Urges Aliyah Boston To Take Up More Responsibility
The Indiana Fever has been dealing with a lot of injuries recently. Apart from missing their primary star in Caitlin Clark, the team also had a host of names missing. The likes of Aari McDonald, Sydney Colson, and Sophie Cunningham are all out of action at the moment. And this has prompted WNBA analyst Tony East to put stress on Boston’s role. The 23-year-old was a star coming into the WNBA back in 2023. And this season, she has shown significant improvements.

Praising the 23-year-old, East stated in a recent episode of ‘Locked On Women’s Basketball’ how well Boston has adapted with the team. But now East wants her to take up more responsibility. And with glimpses of Boston’s offensive play in full flow, East also wants Stephanie White to involve her more. “If she is really energized, setting good screens, getting into open space, getting the ball, demanding attention from the defense, that gives the Fever another way of playing that doesn’t just rely on their ball handlers getting to the cup to bend a defense,” East said.
After all, a look at her career will reveal that she has some impressive accolades to show for. Boston is a 3-time All-Star. She also had a phenomenal rookie season to clinch the Rookie of the Year award in 2023. Not to mention that she also won the NCAA back in 2022. Thus, with the Fever looking to get things back on track, a little push from the likes of Boston might do wonders.
