When the WNBA first appeared on the scene, women’s basketball was never a thing. Barely thriving in the shadows of the NBA, very few would have thought of the league garnering big-money investments. But after all these years, the emergence of names like Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese, Paige Bueckers, and more brought in a revolution. And that gave way to the WNBA governors approving a new CBA.
Well, it did not come easily. The players’ union fought relentlessly for seventeen months to make sure that the salaries went up. Such grit and determination from the players are now paying off. Recently, Satou Sabally extended her praises towards Cathy Engelbert for delivering on her promise of a historic CBA. And she didn’t stand alone in praising the new financial changes. However, Alysha Clark, too, looks excited.

Alysha Clark Reaping The Benefits Of Staying Loyal To The WNBA
Clark’s maiden stint with the WNBA came 16 years ago. Continuing as the oldest active player in the WNBA, the Dallas Wings signed the 38-year-old this season. While teaming up with young phenoms like Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd excites her, the Colorado native also looks forward to the increased contract numbers.
“It’s been amazing to be around to watch how it’s evolved over the years. Now there’s the orange carpet, just all of these really dope things to make the moment feel as special as it is,” Clark told ‘The Dallas Morning News.’
"To be here now, it’s amazing."

Surely, the fruitfulness of the latest CBA also had a lot to do with Clark herself. The 3-time WNBA champion is now the WNBPA Vice President. And played an important role in making sure that the players got what they deserved. The 38-year-old was even ready for a work stoppage had the CBA not been signed in time.

Thankfully, as things now fall into place, the latest agreements have literally changed the lives of veteran players.
How Has The New CBA Affected Alysha Clark And Others?

Back in 2010, teams drafted Alysha Clark to the San Antonio Silver Stars. Back then, it was all grind for the players. No glitz, no fancy contracts. But come March 18, 2026, the lives of veterans like Clark, Arike Ogunbowale, and others experienced a drastic transformation. While Ogunbowale now has a million-dollar contract, the 3-time WNBA champion, too, landed a lucrative deal.
Reminiscing about the good old days, Clark told ‘The News,’ “I mean at the time, it was just like that’s what it is. Regardless of the pay, you knew the best players played in this league, and it was a sacrifice.”
Now then, with things looking rosy, fans will be waiting to see how the new chapter plays out.
