The WNBA draft is still two months away, with the teams already planning out their picks. Cheryl Reeve and Danielle Robinson spotted scouting for Lauren Betts during the college regular-season game. Though the Lynx have the second overall pick, the notion indicates that the Wings will leave the UCLA forward and target another player to partner with Paige Bueckers.
While there are many top players, within the NCAA and also in the foreign leagues, as per a WNBA analyst, the top pick would be UConn’s Azzi Fudd.

Paige Buecker And Azzi Fudd Reunion On Cards
The UConn Huskies are living up to their title as defending champions, as the side is undefeated in the league with a 24-0 run. At the heart of this impressive run is Azzi Fudd and Sarah Strong, who played a key role in last season’s championship run too.
Claiming the UConn senior to be the first overall pick, analyst Jeremy Brener wrote, “Her 17.3 points per game is the best out of her five years at UConn, and she appears to be improving her game in other aspects as well. Her 45.5 percent shooting from beyond the three-point line is a massive help, and that could be the ultimate reason why the Wings choose her instead of Betts or Fam for the top selection.”

Though Fudd is not the top scorer in the side or putting up the extraordinary numbers, she is consistent and effective in her game time. Most of the UConn starters are playing in three quarters, dominating the proceedings, and taking a seat.

Azzi Fudd also shared WNBA draft strategy while focusing on positives regardless of the team selected. While the Fudd and Bueckers pairing is an intriguing one for the side, another UConn Star wants to see the 2026 rookie in her team. Fudd also don’t see PB as the top player.
Paige Bueckers Is Not On Azzi Fudd’s Mount Rushmore
The UConn Huskies provided many star players to the league, with talent oozing out of the program, nearly every season. So, it’s impossible to pick the top four players from the program’s history. But Fudd named her top four on ESPN.
“Oh gosh… There’s no wrong answer ever. Sue [Bird], Tina Charles, then I’d go [Breanna Stewart] and [Napheesa Collier].”
The player mentioned all the champions on her list and omitted Bueckers’ name. But then, if she can pass on Diana Taurasi and Maya Moore, maybe not picking PB is understandable.
