The WNBA All-Star voting results are out, with Caitlin Clark and Napheesa Collier leading the charts for their respective conferences. Clark received 1,293,526 votes, and Collier received 1,176,020 from fans, making them captains for the ‘draft selection’ on July 8.
The league also announced that the top 10 vote-getters, including CC and ‘Phee’, would lock the starting five for the 2025 WNBA All-Star game. These deserving players included the top four guards and six forwards, forming a team of five for the game.
While both captains received fans’ backing for the mega game, the numbers and votes from the active players contradicted the fans’ numbers. Napheesa Collier was second best in the forwards, behind A’ja Wilson, according to the players. But Clark’s ranking was the most surprising one.
Analyst Dick Vitale Criticizes Player’s Approach Towards Caitlin Clark
Even though the WNBA has experienced steady growth over the years, Clark’s entry into the league has fast-tracked the progress. It broke all the viewership, attendance, and merchandise sales records. With that, the league also saw a huge influx of fan following, and the benefits were automatically transferred to all players in the league, not only to Clark.
Dick Vitale pointed out same slamming the players for voting the reigning Rookie of the Year as ninth best guard. The analyst used the words “Absolute Pure Jealously” initially as he shared a post on X (formerly Twitter) showing his ‘disagreement’ over active players’ voting.
Vitale wrote, “players voted Clark the 9th best guard. Some day they will realize what she has done for ALL of the players in the WNBA. Charted planes – increase in salaries, sold-out crowds – improved TV Ratings”

Clark’s massive popularity among fans is no secret; similarly, it is disappointing that a segment of her fellow players felt completely opposite. As the active players’ voting results were out, Alisha Grey and Sabrina Ionescu were the top two guards, followed by Skylar Diggins, Natasha Cloud, and Paige Bueckers. Fellow players even rated CC as the second-best guard on her own team behind Kelsey Mitchell.
Caitlin Clark Is Positive About the WNBA All-Star Game
Although Clark broke all the previous all-star records she had previously set in the 2024 season, she felt great about the All-Star Game in Indiana even before the voting results were out.
“Obviously, it’s cool and it’s cool fans get to be a part of it and have an impact on the game,” Clark said last weekend.
“It’s going to be really special to be able to do it here in this city. And now, with Caitlin Clark as the leading vote getter, CC will have first pick and select her teammate Aliyah Boston. The star forward also made it to the only second Fever player in the starting line-up,” Clark added.

The reserves will be determined by the league’s head coaches’ voting. It will include three guards, five frontcourt players, and four players at either position. The reserves will be announced on July 6.
With Kelsey Mitchell, Natasha Howard, and Sophie Cunningham also leading in their respective positions, Caitlin may go all in for her teammates.
