Angel Reese’s comments on her team and teammates’ poor performance went viral, and the franchise decided to take strict action over the same, suspending the superstar for the first half of the game against the Las Vegas Aces. The Chicago Sky released an official statement explaining the decision, and the subject seemed to be reaching its conclusion.
But what happened next opened up new debates and a possible season wrap-up for the forward. Many expected her to play after halftime, but the 2024 rookie stayed on the bench.
Angel Reese Could Miss Rest Of 2025 WNBA Season
The 23-year-old forward missed a game against the Indiana Fever following an automatic suspension for her eighth technical foul. She was suspended for the first half of the game against the Aces and yet sat out the entire fixture. In the post-game interview, HC Tyler Marsh mentioned that the two-time All-Star reported a back issue to the medical staff before the tip-off.

The forward missed seven games in the first half of August due to a back problem, but she returned healthy and continued with her double-double productions. However, the HC’s mention of Reese’s injury this time raised many questions about the player’s availability for the season.
“I think we got to gauge it day by day. Obviously, with two games remaining, Angel wants to be out there. We will continue to work with her and our medical team to see what the best approach is moving forward,” Marsh answered on the severity of the player’s injury.
With just two games remaining in the season and Reese’s tense relationship in the locker room, the franchise might well shut her down for the season.

While the Chicago Sky’s 2025 season will be over in a week, they will look to deal with the situation in the offseason to start fresh for the 2026 WNBA season. Interestingly, a few analysts raised questions about whether Reese will be with the Sky next season or not.
Chicago Sky Will Have To Take A Call Over Angel Reese
There are two schools of thought for the solution to the ongoing saga. With Reese apologizing, the franchise would look to continue with their superstar player and build a team around her as planned. There are no questions about her abilities and performance on the floor. Working together towards a common goal will build trust between player and franchise, and fans would also be happy to see Chi Town Barbie in a Sky uniform.
Another tougher option is to use the superstar as a trade chip to get maximum returns while she is developing into an elite player. The franchise doesn’t have top draft picks until the 2028 WNBA draft, and it can get a few in a trade for Reese.
Analyst Jason Whitelock mentioned that ‘no one likes to play with Reese’ and suggested that she is pushing for a move to Dallas. The Wings are still looking to rebuild around the UConn superstar, but it will be interesting to see what package they would offer for the ‘rebounds queen’ without hampering their long-term plans.
