The injury concerns do not seem to be leaving the WNBA teams this season. Firstly, it was Caitlin Clark who injured her groin. And after having sat out 20 games, there is no positive update yet about her return. Now, making things worse for the fans, more star power is expected to be sitting on the sidelines. That list now includes Angel Reese, Ariel Atkins, and Hailey Van Lith.
Reese has been struggling with a back injury for a long time now. Having missed several games due to the issue, the Chicago fans are longing to see her return to the hardwood. But as recent updates suggest, that might not happen, as management has a grim update.
Without Angel Reese, Chicago Sky Likely To Field Depleted Side Against New York Liberty
The Chicago Sky is currently looking for a way to salvage some pride for their faltering season. With just eight wins and 26 losses, Chicago could not make the progress that they intended to. However, even in order to make some steady progress in the latter half, they would require a full-strength team. Unfortunately, the Sky won’t be getting as they take on the New York Liberty.

Liberty will be hosting Sky at the Barclays Centre on August 21. And according to the official reports, Van Lith, and are listed as ‘probable,’ while Atkins is listed as ‘questionable.’ Apart from Reese’s bad back, Van Lith is reportedly suffering from ankle issues that might hinder her season.

Ariel Atkins – PROBABLE (Leg)
Angel Reese – PROBABLE (Back)
Hailey Van Lith – PROBABLE (Ankle)
Now then, if all three names are indeed missing, then Chicago has a problem. Liberty is looking towards a repeat of last season’s championship run. And while they had faced Chicago twice, it was New York that took the victory by a long mile. Meanwhile, just like her arch-rival Clark, sitting on the sidelines feels utterly frustrating for Reese. And she recently opened up about her feelings, too.

Angel Reese Shares Honest Opinion About Chicago Sky Return
With each mounting loss, the Chicago Sky’s shoulders are drooping. After their recent defeat to the Golden State Valkyries, coach Tyler Marsh delivered a blunt message. He stated that it was his own fault that he failed to motivate the team enough. Hearing all of this sitting on the sidelines, Reese has been itching to get back.

“I love basketball. Basketball’s what got me here. Put all the bulls**t to the side, I wanna hoop. I always wanna hoop and I’m just happy to be back out here playing the game I love,” Reese said in an interview with Karli Bell.
Surely, Reese’s entry into the team will bolster the squad significantly. However, it is unknown when she will make her much-awaited return.
