The WNBA officiating has been a cause of concern throughout the season. Natalie Nakase highlighted the ongoing officiating issues, making it a hot topic ever since. And now, as the league is entering its business end, things are seeming to get more complicated. So much so that recently, Chicago Sky coach Tyler Marsh lost his temper, and Angel Reese had to pull him back.
The Sky experienced some contrasting emotions in their last two games. When facing off against the New York Liberty, nobody expected Reese and co. to come up with a victory. However, immediately after the Liberty game, the Sky succumbed to defeat playing the Connecticut Sun. It was this very game that had Marsh run out of his patience, and Reese had to pacify him.
Angel Reese Comes To The Rescue Of Tyler Marsh Amidst Heated Confrontation
The incident took place in the second quarter of the game. Following an on-court tussle, the Sky head coach was convinced that it was a foul. However, to his surprise, the referee did not think so and continued with the play. Next up, as the replays showed up on the giant screen, Marsh was pretty much confident about a possible officiating blunder.

Losing his cool, the Sky head coach stormed inside the court and had a heated altercation with the officials. Looking at Marsh’s body language, it seemed like the situation could have gotten worse. But thankfully, Reese was there to prevent any unwanted escalation. As per the videos circulating on the internet, Chi-town Barbie immediately took off and held her coach back to keep the tempers under control.

Unfortunately, despite her efforts, she could not stop officials from ejecting Marsh for his actions. This is not a one-off incident about coaches and athletes being unsatisfied with the WNBA officiating. Storm head coach Noelle Quinn also pointed fingers at the officials following a tough loss to the Sparks. Meanwhile, while Reese was successful in getting Marsh out of harm’s way, she could not do so as her team lost the game.

Angel Reese’s Efforts Not Enough To See Chicago Sky Over The Line
The Connecticut Sun defeated the Sky with a scoreline of 94-84. And while Chicago looked up to Reese, she struggled to find her rhythm. Playing for thirty-one minutes, the 23-year-old could only muster 11 points, 11 rebounds, and five assists. However, this was in stark contrast with her performance against the New York Liberty.

While she played for 29 minutes, Reese scored 21 points, 10 rebounds, and three assists. And such a performance immediately drew praise from her fellow teammates. Kamila Cardoso praised Reese’s rebounding abilities and also addressed her as an inspiration. Not only Cardoso but head coach Tyler Marsh was full of praise, too.
He said, “What Angel adds with her being back is her competitive edge; it’s something that is infectious, something that we feed off of her. She is a huge piece of that. Also, she brings a great positive energy and positive vibes.”
Thus, it is evident that the impact of the 23-year-old on her team is huge. It now remains to be seen how things pan out in the future.
