The WNBA draft is just 10 days away, and every franchise has its draft boards ready, including the expansion draft. The Chicago Sky, though, pulls off a smart move to protect their current roster ahead of the expansion draft. This ensures top-tier players like Angel Reese and Kamila Cardoso stay with the Windy City franchise.
Now they will be looking to add young talent around their fairly young roster, and as per projections, the 2026 WNBA Draft would reunite Reese with her former teammate.

Angel Reese to Reunite With LSU Teammate
In 2025, the Chi-Town Barbie welcomed one of her former teammates, Hailey Van Lith, who played in only a few games due to injury. Now the franchise could bring in another Reese, a former teammate, Flau’jae Johnson, with their fifth overall pick in the draft.
According to WNBA analyst David Suggs, the Sky would draft LSU’s playmaker at the fifth overall pick, giving them a solid foundation. “Angel Reese’s progression as a passer was a godsend for the Sky, who boasted perhaps women’s basketball’s worst backcourt in 2025. The Sky will get reinforcements in the form of Johnson, Reese’s old college teammate,” Suggs wrote in his analysis.
