Chicago Sky star Angel Reese continues to prove that there’s no such thing as a sophomore slump. She has consistently produced all-around numbers even though the Sky have been struggling to move up in the team standings.
On Monday, the Sky couldn’t sustain their strong performance in the first half and eventually fell to the league-leading Minnesota Lynx, 91-78, at Wintrust Arena. Chicago suffered its 14th loss of the season against only seven wins.
Angel Reese Puts Up Another Double-Double Performance
The Sky held a two-point lead at halftime but had a hard time keeping up with the Lynx, who improved to 19-4, in the second half. Minnesota held Chicago to only 32 points after the break.
Despite the loss, Reese had another laudable showing. She ended up with team-highs of 22 points and 10 rebounds on top of three assists and a block. She recorded her ninth straight double-double.
After the game, Sky coach Tyler Marsh lauded the 23-year-old for her valiant performance.
“(Angel’s) shown her verstatility. These last eight games have been (about) her aggression. I thought Minnesota made a conscious effort to keep her off the offensive glass today,” said Marsh, as quoted by Sky reporter Karli Bell.

“It’s been her aggression and her ability to recognize her opportunities on the floor.”
Chicago upset Minnesota on Saturday, 87-81, but couldn’t duplicate the feat. The squad needs to up the ante in the second half of the season to get a better chance of qualifying for the playoffs.
Another Milestone For Angel Reese
Reese leads the WNBA in rebounding this season with 12.6 per game. Known for her tenacity off the glass since her college days at LSU, she’s rarely celebrated for her scoring.
That’s why Reese’s latest milestone was a little surprising. In addition to keeping her double-double streak alive, the longest active one in the league, she became the fifth-fastest player in Sky history to reach 750 points, according to Polymarket Hoops.

The Sky star, who was named to her second All-Star Game, is averaging 14.0 points on a much-improved shooting clip from the field at 44.6% this season.
There were concerns about Reese’s offense when she was drafted by Chicago as the seventh overall pick in 2024. She struggled at times to finish near the rim during her rookie season. But she has obviously worked on her scoring in the offseason, making her more efficient on both ends.
