Ever since participating in the WNBA All-Star game on July 19, Angel Reese has played for the Chicago Sky in only two games. She has been nursing a back injury, which has allowed her to play only against the Washington Mystics and the Minnesota Lynx. Moreover, this has certainly affected her team, which has lost nine out of the last ten games lately.
After her last outing, the Sky played four games and won just one. Their last encounter against the Atlanta Dream was another forgettable night. And when asked if Reese could potentially return, the Sky head coach, Tyler Marsh, has something interesting to say.
Chicago Sky Head Coach Speaks About Angel Reese’s Injury
Reese joined the Sky last year. Ever since then, the Chicago-based team has found a leader in the young Randallstown-born player. However, the 2025 season has been tough for the 23-year-old.
Answering a question about whether Angel Reese has been involved in the team meetings and her recovery update, Tyler Marsh said,
“Yeah, she’s been involved in meetings and everything. Right now, she’s just focused on her back rehab. It’s still a day-to-day.”

When Will Angel Reese Be Back In Chicago Sky Colors?
The 23-year-old forward’s career has surely been a rollercoaster ride ever since she joined the Sky camp in the 2024 season. Her brilliance on the WNBA court made her one of the most reliable stars in fewer than 60 career games.
However, since she hurt her back, Angel Reese’s fans have questioned when the star will return. Earlier this week, before the Atlanta Dream game, the Chicago Sky head coach said,
“There isn’t a concrete timetable as to the extent that I know,” reflecting his inability to explain Reese’s return situation.“It’s the back injury and she continues to be day-to-day… I think she’s progressing but still kind of wait and see,” Marsh concluded.

This certainly explains the severity of Angel Reese’s back injury. However, fans can still pray that she recovers soon and will be back with the Chicago Sky. Her presence may certainly boost the team’s recovery from an already forgettable season!
