Just two months ago, Paige Bueckers attended UConn training camp and proudly spoke about her debut in the pro league. She repeatedly said that no one can guard her now that she plays in the WNBA. Geno Auriemma hilariously called her “Dennis the Menace” in the interview, but she did dominate on the floor, though.

During a postgame interview, the 2025 rookie highlighted the difficulty of playing in a 3-on-3 format. But Bueckers also developed a new offensive technique to beat her opponents on the court. Additionally, the 24-year-old also developed physical strength to compete against professional players.
When asked about the change in the Wings’ guard, Fudd smiled and said, “She definitely has been hitting the weight room.”

She added, “It has been really amazing to see her take that seriously. She always has, but to see an actual difference, it has been great. And you can see the difference on the court, too.”

Bueckers highlighted the importance of gaining some muscle as she spoke with ESPN. She mentioned that for her, getting into the weight room this offseason and having a healthy offseason where she could grind and improve was important. She also added that the Unrivalled league is physical, and gaining some physique will help her in that aspect as well.

While the player worked hard to improve her gameplay and physical abilities, she also delivered on the floor for the expansion team. The side won both its opening games, and Bueckers led in scoring in both games. The unrivaled commissioner called her a superstar for her quick adaptation.

She also recorded her first double-double in the recent game and averages 20 points and six assists per game, taking the offensive load of the side.
The player has a potent support cast with Cameron Brink, Dominque Malonga, and Rickea Jackson also scoring in double digits. It may be too early to call them a contender at the moment, but the side definitely showed its capabilities on the court in its debut season.
