Azzi Fudd has been making some serious noise this year. Dropping some sublime performances for the UConn Huskies, the 23-year-old has played a huge part in her team’s unbeaten 31-0 regular season run. Now that the Huskies’ star will hope to continue aiding her team in a possible championship run, things just got better for the 2025 NCAA champion.
Owing to her stellar form this year, Fudd, along with Sarah Strong, has made it to the 2026 Naismith Player of the Year watchlist. And the accolades just don’t stop here. As she prepares for her team’s playoff run, Fudd has added yet another feather to her embellished crown.

Azzi Fudd Clinches Major BIG EAST Honor
The 23-year-old’s hard work seems to be paying off big time. In a recent announcement, the 2025 NCAA Tournament MOP was named as the 2025-26 BIG EAST Women’s Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
As per reports, the Conference’s Academic Awards Selection Committee finalized the decision. She will receive a $2,000 scholarship, which Fudd can use for either her professional or graduate studies. Interestingly, apart from her antics on the basketball court, the star player also has an impressive academic record.
Following her bachelor’s degree in communications in May 2024, Paige Bueckers’ partner is pursuing a master’s in business communications. With a 3.570 cumulative grade-point average, the Huskies’ star has earned herself the BIG EAST All-Academic Team member award four times. Surely, all of these achievements will only make her confidence go up before her big WNBA launch. And as the analysts are predicting a possible reunion with Bueckers, the 2025 NCAA champion is not very keen on the idea.
Does Azzi Fudd Not Want To Play With Paige Bueckers?

Fudd will undoubtedly be a massive point of attraction in the WNBA Draft. Additionally, with the Dallas Wings looking to land a solid draft pick, the rumors of a possible Fudd-Bueckers reunion are evident. Of course, the duo had won the NCAA championship together. So there’s no doubt that the chemistry between them will be top-notch. Surprisingly, the 23-year-old did not seem too keen on pairing up with Bueckers.
“I’m not. I mean, obviously, getting drafted is the dream, and being No. 1 is the dream. I want to be in that UConn hallway with you, and with everyone else. But I’m really not thinking about it. Because I’ve seen with all my past teammates, just how easy it is to be consumed by that, and to be consumed by what’s next,” said Fudd in an episode of the ‘Game Recognize Game’ podcast.
