It was a ‘regular’ thrashing and commanding performance by the UConn Huskies, who won their second-round match-up by 53 points in front of their home supporters at Gampel. But for Azi Fudd, it was a monumental game as she took the court at the arena for the last time as a Huskies star.
Contributing heavily on the floor, Fudd scored 26 points in the first half alone, thanks to Coach Geno Auriemma’s little tip. But after the game, it was all emotions that controlled the situation as the top 10 WNBA Draft prospect left the arena with a win and many memories to cherish.

Azzi Fudd Shows Love for Gampel And Fans
Moving on to the Sweet 16 phase for the 32nd time in a row, the UConn Huskies didn’t have to sweat much on the court as their team effort made the game easy for them. Still, the senior guard stole the spotlight with her career-high 34 points performance that included eight made three-pointers.
Leaving the arena, Fudd said, “Gampel has been home for the last five years. Some people say no place compares and it doesn’t, the environment, the crowd, the fans, everything about this place is amazing. Playing here one last time, I have had so many great moments, so many great wins. This one is up there.”
"To have one last night here to soak this in, embrace it, enjoy it, it was amazing."

The Huskies are favorites to retain the title, which will make her a two-time champion entering the league via the WNBA draft. The player is also ready for the pro-level challenge.
Azzi Fudd Prepares Herself For WNBA
Right from the start of the season, there were speculations about the possible top pick in the WNBA draft and also the possible destination for the UConn megastar. She revealed that she kept herself away from distractions and noise to focus on her game. But the time has come for her to move to the senior level of basketball, and she is ready for it.
Talking about her future, Fudd said, “I’ve been very intentional this year about not letting myself get wrapped in the future and what’s next. I don’t have a say in where I get to go, so no matter what team drafts me, there are going to be pros and cons to each. And I’ll be sure to find the pros in all of it.”
