The UConn Huskies have always provided the WNBA realm with some exceptional talents. In recent times, the Dallas Wings acquired the services of Paige Bueckers, who turned out to be one of the biggest attractions of the league. But as a new season dawns upon us, the focus is solely fixed on yet another Huskie, Fudd.
While she has already proved her worth as a great basketball asset, excitement around her WNBA future is shooting through the roof. And as the 23-year-old is being heavily rumored to join the Wings, general manager Curt Miller recently added more fuel to the noise.

Curt Miller In Attendance For Azzi Fudd’s NCAA Game
As the upcoming WNBA season is very much doubtful, the franchises are continuing with their scouting. They are also taking significant interest in how the NCAA talents are performing. However, for Miller, it looked like he had eyes for only one particular talent. This Sunday, the college basketball realm had finals from all four power conference tournaments.
But despite having so many options, the Wings’ general manager chose to attend the Huskies’ Big East semifinal game against Creighton. Now, the outcome of the game was an expected one. Dominating Creighton right from the beginning, UConn took home a 100-51 victory.

Thankfully, the 2025 NCAA champion dished out some of her incredible basketball talents in front of Miller. The 23-year-old dropped 16 points and six assists in her twenty-four minutes of game time. Surely, such a performance should have impressed the Wings’ general manager mightily.

At the moment, Fudd is a heavy contender for emerging as the number one overall draft pick alongside Awa Fam. Meanwhile, as the noise around the 2025 NCAA Tournament MOP is growing louder, her mother recently earned a Big East honor.
Azzi Fudd’s Mother Is A Big East Legend Now

Fudd has been leading the perfect 31-0 season for the Huskies. But a look at her mother, Katie Smrkca-Duffy Fudd, will explain where she got her basketball genes. Playing for Georgetown and North Carolina State, Katie had clinched as many as 2072 points. Earning the ACC Rookie of the Year for North Carolina, her time with the Hoyas was one to remember.
The Big East honored Katie as one of its 2025–26 Legends for her superb performances. And it couldn’t have come at a better moment. With her daughter watching, the honor was presented to her during halftime of the quarterfinal game between UConn and Georgetown.
Elated after receiving the honor, Fudd’s mother said, “It is crazy. Who would have thought? But I do think it comes back to leaving it better than you found it. I wanted to set a precedent of how you carry yourself, how you work, setting expectations of success and winning. I wanted to get everyone into that mindset and that culture of winning, not just ‘We are here to play,’ but ‘We are here to win.’”
Thus, with a lot going on, fans will now be eager to find out what’s next.
