The Las Vegas Aces celebrated the 2025 championship with fans once again on October 17 with the grand parade, where everything that happened in the season was ‘forgiven’, and everyone spoke about the importance of that particular title. A’ja Wilson lauded coach Becky Hammon for trusting the team and guiding them to the championship.
The coach also praised her team for its championship run, but she recently opened up about the issues she had with team dynamics and locker room problems.

The Aces were nowhere near championship talks at the start of the 2025 season, but their late run and impressive postseason landed them the championship that cemented their legacy in the league. Although the team seemed in sync and flow for the title, the coach recently spoke about the Locker room issues.
“Last year, we had a lot of departures. I think we had some internal bleeding that maybe from the outside you couldn’t see. There were some hurts and wounds, whether that was personally or professionally, that we were a kind of hurting unit,” Hammon said on the Women’s Sports Now podcast.
“Not that we don’t have our moments of uncomfortable moments, uncomfortable film or an uncomfortable conversation because we did. We had those, but you always have to reinforce that with care for the player… happy players make better players,” Hammon provided the way out, too.

In the draft, the team shored up its depth through savvy free agency and the 2026 WNBA Draft. The draft brought in Janiah Barker as the 29th overall pick. The versatile 6’4″ forward with high upside as a “stretch four,” and guard Jordan Obi, the 44th overall pick.
