The Las Vegas Aces have been on a tear lately, shaking off a shaky start to the season and rolling into the WNBA semifinals with a fire that’s got everyone talking. After a nail-biting Game 3 win over the Seattle Storm, head coach Becky Hammon didn’t waste time celebrating.
Hammon recently pushed back on the WNBA’s playoff format change after a loss to the Seattle Storm. But there’s no stopping her. She turned her sights straight to the Indiana Fever and dropped a message that they better not take lightly.
Becky Hammon Dropped Bold Warning For Indiana Fever
This semifinal matchup feels like it’s been brewing all year, pitting two teams that know how to push each other’s buttons. The Fever, fresh off their own upset of the Atlanta Dream, head into Vegas as underdogs, but Hammon’s not buying the hype.

Becky Hammon’s been around the block, and she knows how to stir the pot without raising her voice too loud. Right after that 74-73 thriller against the Storm, Hammon sat down with reporters and zeroed in on Indiana.
“They haven’t seen the real Aces yet. They caught us when we were in a turmoil… We’ll buckle in, hone in where we can and take care of business… Everybody’s super excited about tonight, which I am too. But we’ll get our hard hats on and get these guys ready for what’s coming next,” she said.

She wasn’t wrong about the turmoil part. The Aces started 2025 sputtering, dipping below .500 at the All-Star break and hearing all the noise about a potential early exit. But they flipped the script with a 17-game win streak to close the regular season, tying the 2001 Sparks for the longest in league history, and extended it to 18 with the playoff clincher.
Indiana Fever Shouldn’t Sleep On Becky Hammon’s Words
While the trend is flowing with the Fever, Indiana shouldn’t let Hammon’s confidence fool them into thinking this is overconfidence. Earlier, the Aces have been through the fire this year, turning a midseason wobble into a streak that’s got them as -200 favorites to win the series.
That Game 3 escape against Seattle? Trailing by five after one, they built a seven-point halftime lead, stretched it to eight in the third, and clamped down for 22 fourth-quarter points while holding the Storm to 15. Wilson called it “survival mode,” but Hammon saw it as proof they’re peaking right when it counts. And just like that, Hammon earlier backed Wilson for WNBA MVP nod.
For the Fever, it’s a wake-up call. They’re the Cinderella story, upsetting Atlanta without Clark or Sophie Cunningham, leaning on Mitchell’s 23.3 playoff points and Aliyah Boston’s double-doubles. But facing an Aces team that’s healthier and hungrier? It’s better that they find the answer to this question on their own.
