The CBA terms are making massive noise in the WNBA, with commercials allowing players to earn in the seven-figure range. Aliyah Boston signed one of the highest-value contracts in the league while many top players like Breanna Stewart and Kelsey Plum took a small pay cut to their max salary and still earn nearly a million dollars per season.
Apart from this, there was another major change in the league’s payouts as the WNBA announced substantial paybacks for retired players and also parental benefits to the players and their teams, too.
Stewie, who had been very vocal about these required changes, was a key contributor to the same, as she recently opened up on her thoughts about the ‘facilities’.

Breanna Stewart Backs Payments For Retired Stars And Also Parent Benefits
Apart from the salary and revenue sharing, the players were looking for housing and other facilities that the league amended in their proposal. Midway into the CBA talks, the WNBA agreed to a housing adjustment, which was one of the wisest decisions following the criticism it received from fans and players.
Then the one-time pension and parent benefits topic came onto the agenda, and Stewart opened up on the same. She said, “At the beginning, I brought to Terry the Idea of having a pension, and having the ability to go back pay and appreciate the players that helped this league to go into thirty years.”
Yesterday Breanna Stewart reflected on the process to get the 2026 CBA done. I asked her about what she specifically was advocating for when she was in the rooms where it was all happening.

Napheesa Collier also spoke about representing the past players, too, having helped the league build from scratch. Her Minnesota Lynx Assistant coach was one of the beneficiaries of this rule as she reacted happily to the grand sum from the league.
But in general, the Liberty star also sees the current CBA as the base for the future talks and is looking forward to taking the league to another level.
Breanna Stewart Calls CBA Terms Baseline for Upcoming Talks
While the numbers are certainly staggering for the players and fans who, until now, have experienced a gradual change in the league’s CBA terms. But as per the three-time champion, this is just the beginning.

“The fact that all players are getting to actually feel valued and their worth and to really kind of go after and get that … this is like the baseline. This is the starting point. Wherever we were before was kind of lesser. And now we really are getting ourselves at face value, and that’s only going to continue to grow,” Stewart said.
Fans and players are clearly happy with the new terms and are looking forward to making the 2026 season a massive success with a win in the CBA deal.
