The tension reached its boiling point with the Vinyl BC facing the Phantom BC for the possible playoff qualification decider. Both teams were close to a top-four finish, and a win would have given the winner a clear edge in the final standings. The game was rough, but no one expected Brittney Griner’s hard foul on Aliyah Boston.
Commentator Lisa Leslie goes off on Griner’s flagrant foul against Boston, and a group of fans called out the veteran forward, acting jealous of AB. But the Dream forward came out to answer the jealousy part.

Brittney Griner Addresses Jealousy Over Aliyah Boston’s Claims
Starting the campaign late, the 35-year-old star wanted to make an impact on Vinyl BC’s gameplay. She became a handy option off the bench, providing defensive stability and controlling the rim. But the player’s excessive contact on Aliyah Boston during the game against the Phantom BC received heavy criticism.
While fans labelled the foul ‘out of jealousy’, Griner gave them some facts to counter their claims. On the thread, she wrote, “Why would I be jealous of someone when I’ve played against Legends and Goats. She ain’t got sh*t I want or ever want.”
So a rage-bait tweet really got you exposing how you’ve felt about AB all along? You’ve clearly had an issue with her since her rookie year. The slick, underhanded stuff you keep pulling isn’t a good look. A 35-year-old taking shots at a 24-year-old like this is just sad. SMH BG! pic.twitter.com/IbWzFWi7xw

Britteny Griner Sees Future With Atlanta Dream Team
Famous for her defensive skills, BG moved to the young Atlanta Dream team in 2025. Though the team’s guard-oriented offence affected her stats, she was a crucial player on the roster. Yet, with her career low performance and early exit from the playoffs, a possible move for the forward was hinted at.
Brushing aside the idea, Griner said. “I’m looking forward to it. Everybody on that team, it was just easy. Basketball was the main focus; we showed up, we hooped, and that’s all you can ask for. And I’m looking forward to being there again.”
For the 2026 WNBA expansion draft, the Atlanta Dream are expected to protect core players Rhyne Howard and Allisha Gray, alongside key contributors Naz Hillmon, Maya Caldwell, and Te-Hina Paopao.
