The past few months have been very different for Caitlin Clark altogether. Injury, missing games, and then, when back, missing baskets. She never had her teammates looking away for a pass, even if she was open for a three-point shot. But that was the case in a few of her recent games. She was overlooked for a shot a few times, and it was a clear sign of your teammates not trusting you with a ‘basket’ – an indication of having an actual shooting slump.
A ball bouncing off the rim could be an attempt, but a reality check is your teammates’ trust. While this was new for CC, she is working hard to get over the tough period. The record three-point shooter found a solution from another elite and record-breaking marksman – Stephen Curry. In the pre-game interview, she talked briefly about her way to get out of the demoralizing phase.
Caitlin Clark Namedrops Stephen Curry While Addressing Shooting Slump
A drop in her shooting efficiency had affected the game dearly. The star missed more than 2/3rd of the shots, losing possession in the process. Yet the 2024 Rookie of the Year maintained that she will keep taking those shots and will make them as she used to.
The reason for this was the confidence given by her training coach and a like-for-like example from the NBA. Accepting the fact that
“I was talking to our player development coach yesterday, and he was like, just sent me a few things, like even Steph (Curry) going through a slump. I think he was like 27 for his last 70 or something like that. Like the best in the world go through it. And I think that’s like where you can find your confidence. And I think the thing I always fall back on is like I know how hard I’ve worked. So you know this isn’t something that’s going to last for long,” the two-time All-Star answered in a press conference (Via YT/@IndianaFever).
The Warriors’ guard is the best shooter in the world, setting multiple scoring records in his career. CC’s game is similar to that of the four-time NBA champion, making it more relatable for the Fever guard.

The explosive scorer is currently finding it difficult to find the net. In recent games, the guard made only 17 of 59 field goal attempts and 3 of 28 from three-point range. Interestingly, despite her slump, she is still breaking records and averaging nearly 17 points per game. Fans will be eager to watch their favorite star find her scoring touch to terrorize the defenses again.
Caitlin Clark Talks Indiana Fever’s Inconsistency
Sadly, for the Indiana Fever, it’s not just their 2024 Rookie struggling in the games, but the whole squad is going through a rough patch. On one night, they defeated the 2024 finalists, the Minnesota Lynx, by 17 points, and the same side surrendered against the expansion team, losing by 19 points. The point guard addressed the issue in the pre-game press conference.

“I think we’ve struggled with the fact that we’re able to play one good game and then we play a bad game, then we play a good game, then we play a bad game. So, I think for us, it’s like we got to find a way to be able to stack really good games together,” former Iowa player told the media (Via YT/@IndianaFever).
While Kelsey Mitchell, Aliyah Boston, and Natasha Howard had been consistent in the past few games, the side must find rhythm at the defensive end to grab a win. The eighth-place team now wins most games out of the remaining 24 games to ascertain its place in the playoffs.
They will play two away games next, against the Connecticut Sun and Liberty before returning to the home fixture schedule.
