All roads will lead to Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on July 19 for the much-anticipated WNBA All-Star Game. It’s a historic edition of the midseason spectacle as the Indiana Fever will host it for the first time.
The league’s biggest names will battle it out for pride and honor, with Fever guard Caitlin Clark and Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Collier being named as team captains after topping the voting process. They will draft their teammates from the other eight starters and 12 reserves. The results will be announced on Tuesday on ESPN.
Tough Spot For Caitlin Clark In Picking Between Paige Bueckers And Aliyah Boston
While the draft sounds exciting, it might be a tough one for Clark, who was the top vote-getter. While it’s unclear how the draft will go, it’s quite possible she might have to choose between Fever teammate Aliyah Boston and Dallas Wings rookie Paige Bueckers for her starting unit.

Logic would dictate that Clark would pick Boston. But if Bueckers is still available, it would be difficult to pass up on her, especially since the WNBA All-Star Game is more suitable for guards. A backcourt featuring Clark and Bueckers would wreak havoc on the opposing team.
Plus, knowing how competitive the 23-year-old Clark is, she might enjoy trying to beat the 23-year-old Boston for a change. After all, the midseason showcase is all about having fun.
But obviously, the ideal situation for Clark is to draft both Boston and the 23-year-old Bueckers.

Caitlin Clark Still Out With Groin Injury
While fans are hoping to see Clark in action, it remains unclear if she will suit up in the much-awaited affair due to her groin injury. She has missed their last five games, including the Fever’s championship win in the WNBA Commissioner’s Cup.
Fever coach Stephanie White already said they are being extra cautious with Clark’s health, stressing that she needs to “feel good” before allowing her to return to the hardwood. White, however, noted that the reigning Rookie of the Year is making “good progress.”
Indiana is sitting on a 9-9 win-loss record heading into the midseason break.
