The 2025 WNBA All-Star players were announced on July 6. While many expected players made the cut, all eyes were on July 8. On the draft night, when the captains finally took turns to select final teams to compete in the annual event. All eyes were on Caitlin Clark with the league’s leading rebounder, Angel Reese, in the reserves for selection.
Two captains for the upcoming All-Star game selected their rosters. Napheesa Collier, the opposing captain, chose Breanna Stewart, Alyssa Gray, Nneka Ogwumike, and Paige Bueckers as her starters. The highest vote-getter for the game, CC, chose Aliyah Boston, Sabrina Ionescu, A’ja Wilson, and Satou Sabally as her starters. The difficult selections were from the reserves, where a drama awaited.
Caitlin Clark Snubs Angel Reese In All-Star Selection
The draft process for the WNBA All-Star game provides each team captain equal and alternate chances to select a player. While the former Iowa star started the draft as the highest vote-getter, it was Napheesa Collier’s chance to start drafting the reserves.
Like CC, Collier chose her teammate first, drafting Courtney Williams as her first choice from the reserves. The Fever guard once again gave preference to her teammate and chose Kelsey Mitchell for her team. With all the ‘franchise teammates’ entirely drafted, it was down to the choices fitting the teams.

Phee tried to reunite the Seattle pair, selecting Skyler Diggins as her other reserve guard. With pick number 12, Caitlin Clark had the chance to choose Angel Reese. The in-form forward is once again leading the league in rebounds and making a massive impact on her team’s success so far. Both players were drafted in 2024, sharing a common bond in ‘W’. But instead of adding the rebounding machine to her roster, the 2024 Rookie of the Year winner decided to take a different forward, Gabby Williams.
Reese finished second in the Rookie ranking last season. She proved herself once again in the league with her recent performances. Picking her would make more sense than breaking the trio of Seattle at Collier’s team. Was it a huge blunder or a calculated selection? Only CC would answer her choices.

Caitlin Clark Gets Multiple Fever Teammates In All-Star Lineup
The WNBA All-Star game player draft was already a mega hit as fans showed love for their favorite stars while voting. After the record response from the spectators and active players, it would have been great to see players from the same franchise playing against each other in the annual game.

But CC had other thoughts and reunited a few teammates in her selection. As she mentioned, she picked Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell, making the Fever trio on her team. Not only that, she chose Aja Wilson and Jackie Young, forming another dominant and established guard-forward duo on her side.
Along with that, the All-Star debutant and Washington Mystics teammates Kiki Iriafen and Sonia Citron will represent Clark’s team, making her team on the floor more predictable. One pairing that the Fever guard allowed was trading her coach, Cheryl Reeves, to Phee for Sandy Brondello. Reeves coaches Napheesa and Courtney Williams at the Lynx. With the trade, CC helped make the trio work their magic again.
