Rookies power Team USA’s wins in recent games, allowing the side to dominate the proceedings at the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers. Caitlin Clark and Paige Bueckers led the offensive line, while Angel Reese is commanding the paint region.
Looking at her performances, fans demanded a starting role for Clark in the upcoming games, and the player got her ‘deserved’ place against the New Zealand national side. Making the most of the opportunity, the Fever guard not only impacted the game on the offensive end, but delivered on the defensive side too.

Caitlin Clark With Two-Way Play Against New Zealand
The 2024 rookie always had the spotlight throughout her career and shone the brightest on the biggest stages. Everyone is quite aware of her offensive plays, making runs, passes, and banking range shots characterized her game throughout her career. But in the game against the New Zealand national team, the former Iowa star also showed awareness on the defensive end.
CC successfully intercepted two passes from the opposition in the second half, finding an opportunity to steal a ball on an inbound pass at the beginning of the second half, then stole the ball at midcourt and returned it for a quick transition layup.

Caitlin Clark Provides Update On Her Health
Fans were waiting for the Fever guard’s return, who last played on July 15. The player, though, asked fans to keep realistic expectations from her, considering the eight-month gap from action. Ahead of her first game, CC mentioned that she is feeling fit to play and a bit nervous for her debut. Four games into the tournament, reporters checked on her again, and the player gave a positive response.
Answering on condition of her body, the 24-year-old said, “Feel good. Feel good. Obviously, five games in seven days is a true test, and to see where my body is at. But so far, I feel really good.”

Interestingly, the Indiana Fever have the toughest draw in the 2026 season with back-to-back games on three different occasions. With CC and also Aliyah Boston struggling for 100% fitness, coach Stephanie White will look to get the most out of her team.
