Aliyah Boston didn’t like teaming up with Caitlin Clark when the Iowa star joined the Indiana Fever team in 2024. The reason was CC’s performance, breaking their unbeaten streak in 2023. But the playmaker always had respect for the South Carolina forward, which is evident in the current Fever roster and even in the college years.
In a recent interview, the Fever guard opened up on attending the 2022 Naismith Player of the Year award, even though she lost the same to AB.

Caitlin Clark Provides Reason for Attending Aliyah Boston’s Accolade
In 2022, South Carolina, Iowa, and Stanford had one representative each for the Naismith Player of the Year award. Haley Jones was the third name in the list, but the close contest was between AB and CC.
Ultimately, Aliyah Boston won the award, which the committee had already declared. But that didn’t keep the Iowa star from showing up at the award ceremony, and she recently opened up on the same. Clark said, “I think the biggest thing is, you know, Aliyah was one of my teammates [on Team USA], and I think, like Coach Staley said, as that whole conversation was going on, this argument of, ‘Caitlin or Aliyah’ is so good for our game.”

“But at the same time, I want to respect and honor people that help our game be tremendous. And I think Aliyah is one of those. And obviously, coach Staley was Naismith Coach of the Year, as well, and I’ve had the honor of receiving the Dawn Staley Guard of the Year two times, so being able to honor her too, who has done so much for our game, was special. But at the end of the day, that’s not the reason why you play, to win awards,” the star guard added.

While the duo later became teammates at the Indiana Fever, CC’s class act won many hearts at the time as she showed a big heart in supporting the winner. There is no question that the former top picks were impactful players for their teams; they play a key role in the team’s success now more than ever.
Caitlin Clark And Aliyah Boston Would Be Key For Indiana Fever’s Free Agency Success
Apart from the CC’s act, Aliyah Boston revealed the truth behind the Clark buzz everyone already knew. That’s because the players now share a close bond as teammates and combine effectively for the team’s win.

This bond and combination would play a vital role in the Indiana Fever’s ability to attract top free agents from the upcoming free agency, as they did in 2024, building a championship contender team. Even though the side prioritizes Kelsey Mitchell as its prime target, an additional star forward will put them in the driving seat for the title this season.
