The lush green field turned into a carnival as Annika’s Pro-Am LPGA event announced its star-studded lineup for the 2025 edition. While many celebrities were on the Golf course for the tournament, one name that stood out was Caitlin Clark, whose jerseys were visible everywhere on the course.
Before the start of the tournament, Annika Sorenstam praised Clark’s LPGA Pro-Am impact, drawing crowds and new fans to golf, and the player set new records for the 2025 year, even surpassing the numbers from last season.
Caitlin Clark Takes Annika Pro-Am Viewership To New High
The WNBA saw a massive surge in media attention and fan following in the 2024 season, which was termed the ‘Caitlin Clark-effect’ phenomenon. While her influence on and off the court continued to grow in her second year in the WNBA, she showcased the same effect in golf, too.

In 2024, the Fever rookie played at the Annika Pro-Am event for the first time. Following its success, the host, Annika Sorenstam, invited the former Iowa star once again. This time the numbers went up drastically, with many fans showing up at the Pelican Golf course with ‘number 22’ Fever jersey. The media coverage increased by 63%, and attendance nearly doubled from the last edition.

No. 2–ranked Nelly Korda, who played the first nine holes with the Fever star, also found it amusing as she said, “It’s crazy. That first tee was something out of a book, almost. But it’s so fun. It’s cool to see how many people she brings together to another sport.”

The 2024 Rookie of the Year Winner had a very calming response to the fans’ attendance as she said, “I think it just shows how powerful supporting one another can truly be. I’ve always been a big advocate of that, supporting women’s sports and always been a big fan, whether it’s golf or soccer or volleyball, whatever it is.”
It’s interesting to note that the Golf Channel used Clark’s pro-am round to promote its new WNBA coverage in 2026 and a broader rebranding to USA Sports. However, the Feevr star also came prepared for the event and delivered what fans were waiting for – making a long-range putt.
Caitlin Clark Makes ‘Memorable’ Putt To Energize The Crowd
The WNBA superstar is famous for her competitive nature and long-range shots. While her competitive nature was evident on the course, as evident from her expressions on every swing, one shot that went viral was her 35-foot Putt, which she called before hitting the ball. The perfect weight and direction behind the shot were like those of a pro-golfer, as her smooth, low ball in the hole took over the internet.

While Clark admitted golf sparks more nerves than basketball due to solo pressure, her presence at Annika’s event and game was a complete contradiction to that. Fans will be waiting for her to play on the basketball court, too, as the beloved star announced her 100% fitness at the golf event.
