The WNBA broke its attendance record for the 2025 season. Many highlighted that this was without Caitlin Clark, who was out injured for over half of the season. While the league celebrated its regular-season record, it is also getting ready for a similar record in the playoffs.
The Fever guard will also miss the playoffs, as her team starts the title chase with a series against the Atlanta Dream. The future of teams will be decided in the next month, and the player could be back on the golf course – her second love. The WLPGA could use Clark’s popularity to attract more eyeballs.
LPGA Could Use Caitlin Clark’s Star Power To Attract Fans
The Indiana Fever led the WNBA viewership with a massive difference. Interestingly, the 2024 rookie was not available for most of the season. There is another sport that the playmaker is interested in and shows love for, which is Golf.

According to reports, the WNBA viewership surged by 5% from last season, raising it to 63%. Women’s tennis also attracted 33% of sports fans. But the female Golf, LPGA, as famously known, had just 18% viewership, and it stalled at that number for a long time.
Despite the sport’s star players and global presence, this number is very low, and it can be attributed to the Fever Guard’s popularity. The player played in the Annika pro-am, and ticket sales skyrocketed 1,200 percent compared to previous editions of the event.

While there are no such events lined up yet, LPGA can use her passion and popularity to grow the league’s reach.
Caitlin Clark Jokes About Playing In Playoffs
While the player is out for the season, she was on Sydney Colson’s Instagram Live, where she accidentally joked about playing in the playoffs. As the player was about to go to sleep, her teammates asked her to rest. The superstar playmaker jokingly said, “I will. Big game I’ve got coming up on Sunday.”
While Aliyah Boston was shocked by CC’s revelation, she quickly understood the player’s bluff. Sydney Colson also ended the live stream. Fans were also surprised by the player’s sudden words and were hopeful for her availability.
The Indiana Fever, though, released the list of players injured and out of the first playoff game. The list includes Aari McDonald, Sophie Cunningham, and Caitlin Clark. The addition of Damiris Dantas to the injury list put Stephanie White’s team under pressure for the opening game.
