With the WNBA season now live, the athletes are locking in. Following a long tussle with the league regarding better salaries, the wait is finally over. Likewise, for Cameron Brink, this particular year comes as a huge opportunity to prove herself. Having suffered from injuries last time, the 24-year-old is determined to come back strong.
In the offseason, Brink looked quite impressive with her Unrivaled stint. However, while she tries to keep up with the good work, the Los Angeles Sparks forward is also trying to focus on two important aspects outside of the high-octane on-court action. The 2021 NCAA champion wants to give priority to fashion and mental health.

Cameron Brink Puts Mental Health First Amidst Return From Knee Injury
The 24-year-old has not had a very smooth WNBA career so far. Last year, she returned to the Sparks’ lineup after 13 months of inactivity. Nursing an ACL injury, the New Jersey native had a tough time getting her mental health sorted. Thankfully, as the Stanford University alum fought bravely through her struggles, the WNBA star is now more mature. She knows exactly how not to stress out with the minute details.
In a recent collaboration with Interview magazine, Brink spoke up on how she has evolved as a person during her rehabilitation period. Explaining how women have been historically asked to push through pain, the 6-foot-4 star said, “As women, we’re taught to be super, super hard on ourselves.”

She further added, “The idea of, ‘I’m going to speak to myself nicely today’ sounds easy until you actually try to embody it. But once you do, it’s life changing. Leading up to my first game back, I worked on emphasizing that I’m only going to speak to myself kindly and reframe things in a positive way.”

Surely, such an attitude would help her with clarity of thought. With a tiring season coming up, proper mental balance means the positive energy will translate onto her on-court antics, too.
Unfortunately, playing against the Las Vegas Aces, the Sparks’ star had a disappointing outing.
Cameron Brink Gets A Harsh Message From Los Angeles Head Coach
This season will be a make-or-break year for the 2024 second overall pick. While Brink’s off-court antics have always garnered a lot of attention, the WNBA star had yet another muted showing on the hardwood. Playing against the Las Vegas Aces, the Sparks lost 78-105. Logging in for eight minutes, the former Stanford star failed to drop even a point. To make matters worse, the 24-year-old also gave up three turnovers.

Unhappy with the performance, head coach Lynne Roberts stated, “We need Cam to produce… She’s got to get out on the floor with some confidence and do what she’s capable of doing.”
