The crowd at the Crypto.com Arena was elated with their team’s recent performances and turned up in numbers to see Cameron Brink back on the floor after 13 months. The 2024 rookie had a season-ending ACL injury after playing in just 15 games. The star didn’t take long to make an impact, coming off the bench late in the first quarter.
After the game, the excited forward met with the media and shared her feelings about her return. Even though the LA Sparks lost the game, the youngster was happy to be back on the court and actively participate in the team’s progress.
Cameron Brink Happy About Return
The defensive stalwart sat out nearly a complete season nursing her injury and working hard on rehab. The franchise also gave her time to return to 100% before taking the court. While the player was thankful to the doctors, front office, and well-wishers for the help and support in recovering from the serious injury, she was excited for her season debut.
Coach Lynne Roberts called her off the bench only in the first half, and she grabbed a rebound and provided an assist in back-to-back possessions. She also took little time netting a basket—a three-pointer from the right wing. The former Stanford star expressed ‘relief’ when talking about her first game experience after the injury.
“I definitely was a little nervous at first. But once I got in, it felt like riding a bike. Great day. Ten out of 10,” the LA forward told the ESPN reporter in an interview.

Cameron Brink’s Positive Return Will Be Great For The LA Sparks
There is always a high risk of an athlete losing their form and rhythm returning after a long injury break, especially after an ACL tear. But the 23-year-old made it look effortless and yet impactful on the court, showing her true potential.

Even though she contributed little to the team totals, her movements, positioning, and gameplay highlight her readiness for the season. More importantly, that ‘smile on the face’ while playing her first game shows her positive attitude. Strategically, she will bring defensive solidity and offensive flair to the Sparks’ game, winning important matchups near the glass.
The Los Angeles Sparks are currently in 10th place, two games behind the final playoff spot. The addition of the second-year forward could be a major morale booster for the side, which is seeking a postseason berth.
