Fans expected Olivia Miles to make her WNBA debut a year ago. But the TCU star took a ‘dumb’ decision and stayed with the NCAA for an additional year. Such a decision changed her destiny as Miles is now one of the biggest names in the WNBA.
Teaming up with the likes of Napheesa Collier and co., the 23-year-old emerged as the number 2 overall draft pick. However, joining the Minnesota Lynx might seem like a dream come true moment. But in reality, the competition and hustle are high-paced. Thankfully, for a team looking to settle for nothing less than a championship run, Cheryl Reeve seemed pleased with the new acquisition.

Cheryl Reeve Feels Olivia Miles Is ‘Locked In’
With less than two weeks for the season to commence, the Lynx is busy sorting out their priorities. Entering a new setting, many expected the Texas Christian University star to face some adjustment challenges. But in reality, the former Notre Dame star feels special within the Lynx’s system.
On the contrary, head coach Cheryl Reeve also seems quite impressed with Miles. In a recent presser, the Lynx head coach stated that she has stressed the stark differences between college and WNBA games.
“Liv is doing great… She’s locked in and asking the right questions… each game brings something different, and we kind of talked about like in college, maybe sometimes you can play half the effort and still win by 20. We just talk a lot about how hard is to win possessions in this league and really challenging her both on a defensive side and offensive side,” said Reeve.

Surely, this will be a massive learning curve for the emerging point guard. This season in college, the 23-year-old averaged 19.6 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 6.6 assists.
Meanwhile, suiting up for her maiden WNBA game, Miles felt that the real test had just begun.
Olivia Miles Speaks On Physicality Following Her Preseason Game With Minnesota Lynx
The dynamics of physical play between the college and WNBA realms vary significantly. Trying to test it out in person, she stepped inside the hardwood in a practice game against the Washington Mystics. Unfortunately, Miles did not feel impressed.
“I don’t think this game was a fair test just because they’re a bunch of young rooks too. So it kind of was like playing against college girls who I literally were just playing against,” Miles said in her postgame interview.
The 23-year-old dropped eight points, three rebounds, and a couple of assists to wind up the night. Now, fans will be eager to see what happens next.
