With the CBA extension period already entering its final week, tensions are high, as no concrete news has emerged from the discussions. Midway in November, A’ja Wilson dropped key updates on WNBA CBA negotiations amid the extension deadline, which puts a question mark over the discussions’ conclusion. However, Cheryl Reeve recently put forward a point, expressing confidence in reaching an agreement.
The Lynx coach was at a fan event before the WNBA Draft Lottery and answered a few questions regarding the draft picks and the CBA negotiations. A fan shared the interview on TikTok that could calm some nerves.

Cheryl Reeve Optimistic About CBA Discussions
The CBA discussions are still ongoing, with the WNBPA sending back the WNBA’s recent offer, which included a $1.1 million salary. ESPN reporter Alexa Philippou claimed that a lack of focus on revenue sharing was the main reason for the denial. While there is still much darkness around the CBA, the Lynx coach sees a ray of hope.
“I think things are progressing, so you all know, progressing with the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Everything that’s happening is the normal course of business. They will get a deal done. Very, very confident in that,” Reeve said.

So, keeping a positive attitude and looking forward to the CBA conclusion, the 59-year-old coach is focusing on her task with the Lynx side, more importantly, that the franchise landed a second overall pick.
Cheryl Reeve Focused On Draft Pick
The 2026 WNBA draft is deeper than ever, with many top players available for every position. The European talent is also in the mix, giving competition to the NCAA Stars in the draft prospects. However, HC Reeves is looking to make it a ‘perfect’ selection as she looks at the decision as a long-term investment for the team.
“We are excited to have secured the number two pick in the 2026 draft. This selection will no doubt be an important part of our future as we continue our pursuit of a fifth WNBA Championship,” Cheryl Reeve said.
Interestingly, Reeve was at the UCLA vs Texas game earlier this week, speculating Lauren Betts as a probable pick for the Lynx. While many put Azzi Fudd as the top pick following Wings’ winning the draft lottery, Olivia Miles, Awa Fam, and Flau’jae Johnson are still up for grabs.

While the Fever (Caitlin Clark) and Wings (Paige Bueckers) found their franchise player, the Lynx are already looking for Napheesa Collier’s successor, and the second overall pick in the 2026 WNBA draft could be a perfect opportunity for the side.
