The WNBA Season will start within 10 days, and the teams will have to take their roster down to 12 players as per the league rules. Dallas Wings nearly have their final roster ready, with GM Curt Miller naming his final roster for the 2026 season. As for the Lynx, Cheryl Reeve is looking at it as a tough decision and still sees positive aspects of the process, too.
The Lynx have 20 players on their training camp roster and will be looking to start the season with the most impactful 12 players who fit the system and complement each other’s games.

Cheryl Reeve Talks About Roster Cut
The player cut process is not new to the experienced coach, who has done it for the national side, too. Talking about how players give their 100% during the camp, their attributes, and their good behavior, she said it makes the ‘cutting’ decision difficult for management.
“It’s always hard… I can name some really good players that got cut. I had three players on our team last year that won 34 games and had gotten cut [before] and were told they weren’t good enough… they went on, in some cases, to make a million dollars,” Cheryl Reeves said.

The franchise lost Alanna Smith to free agency, who joined Paige Bueckers at the Dallas Wings on a multiyear contract. The Lynx also lost Bridget Carleton and Maria Kliundikova to expansion teams and will now look to build another competitive roster after a top-place finish last season.

One player who won over the coach is the 2026 rookie Olivia Miles. In a recent interview, Miles expressed a desire to clock more minutes in games, and it seems that the coach would gradually fulfill her wish.
Cheryl Reeve Praises Rookie Olivia Miles
The TCU star was a shrewd pick by the Lynx, who not only added a playmaker but also an additional scorer on the roster, boosting their offense immediately. But the Lynx head coach stressed the stark differences between college and WNBA games, and is still happy with her rookie.
“Liv is doing great… Each game brings something different, and we kind of talked about like in college, maybe sometimes you can play half the effort and still win by 20. We just talk a lot about how hard is to win possessions in this league and really challenging her both on a defensive side and offensive side,” said Reeve.

With a top guard to a solid forward line-up, the Lynx will aim for its fifth championship in the league.
