The 2026 WNBA season saw multiple changes, including player salaries, the number of teams competing, and a few player loyalties, too. One thing that remained the same is the number of players on the final roster, so the teams will have to put in extra efforts now to trim the training camp roster to 12, and the Dallas Wings have much bigger tasks at hand.
With 22 players in the training camp, the Wings nearly have two WNBA teams within the facility. The talent available is astonishing, leaving a major headache for the management to decide on the final roster. GM Curt Miller is clear with his vision, though, as he recently named 11 players ready to wear the Wings’ Jersey for the 2026 season.

Curt Miller Leaves JJ Quinerly Out Of Dallas Wings’ Final Roster
After the free agency signings, GM Curt Miller revealed that the Wings’ 2026 rotation will be around Paige Bueckers, Arike Ogunbowale, and Azzi Fudd. While this was an understandable statement, the GM also recently gave her a possible roster.
“You think of a potential projected lineup of Paige, Arike, Azzi, Jess, and Alanna, you’re talking a second unit now of Odyssey, Aziaha, Maddy Siegrist, Awak, and Li. That’s a pretty good 10. And we haven’t even mentioned [Alysha] Clark,” Miller told the media.

Interestingly, the 11 players mentioned by the GM include five guards, leaving a very slim chance of keeping another guard for the remaining spot, which rules out Quinerly from the selection. And even if Quinerly snatched the 12th and final place on the Wings roster, she would most likely fall behind all of the named backcourt options in the rotation.

But does that mean the young star’s future with the Wings’ franchise is over? No, a major change in the CBA will hand the franchise an opportunity to hold on to the talented Virginia-born guard.
Dallas Wings Can Still Hold On To JJ Quinerly
The new CBA will not only make the Wings pay Azzi Fudd $500,000 a year, but also allow them to have two developmental spots, just like other teams that will not be part of the salary cap, but a luxury to rotate injured or unavailable players.

Although the star played in 34 games in the 2025 season, her impact and chemistry with Paige Bueckers were visible on the floor, so the team would love to see her flourish by giving her some more time. The front office could release Quinerly from her developmental contract and make her available for a max of 12 games this season.
