The Indiana Fever’s 2025 season was as if out of a Hollywood film, with the underdog squad posting numerous surprising victories against the powerhouse teams for a deeper playoff run. Although all players were vital in their own right, Aliyah Boston was a pillar of consistency on both sides of the court for Stephanie White.
For her efforts, Boston earned her first-ever WNBA All-Defensive Team and also All-WNBA second team selection. Although these were phenomenal achievements, her coach at the time, Dawn Staley, envisioned more for the 24-year-old wing.
Dawn Staley Gets Aliyah Boston Pumped Up
Contender for the title at the beginning of the season, the Indiana Fever fell off the ranks as the season went along. The principal cause of this decline was the abundance of players on the bench due to injury. Caitlin Clark’s season-ending injury was a severe setback for the team as it lost its main offensive threat.

Stephanie White lists Boston among the most affected players as a result of Clark’s absence. Nonetheless, the three-time All-Star recorded her best game offensively with 15.4 points and 3.9 assists. She even held her defensive line with eight rebounds and a block per game. These numbers were good enough to earn her a spot on the All-WNBA and WNBA All-Defensive second team. Dawn Staley was pleased with her former player and envisioned a bright future for her.
“Aliyah, congratulations. You know I know that this was a foregone conclusion of the year that you had. So deserving of this and more. You know how I feel. That MVP season is loading, and it’s yours. I’m claiming it,” Staley said in the message to Boston.

The experienced coach had been a fan of AB and often put her at the top in comparison with another Gamecock player, A’ja Wilson. During the Fever-Aces Series, Dawn Staley mentioned a ‘win-win’ scenario for her as A’ja Wilson and Aliyah Boston Clash In WNBA Semifinals Game 5.
While comparison with the four-time MVP is a huge compliment, the 2023 rookie is looking to improve on her game and impact the plays for the Fever side. She even credited her team for the success despite having an excellent individual season.
Aliyah Boston Credits ‘Team Chemistry’ For Fever’s Impressive Season
Even though the Indiana Fever missed five players to season-ending injuries and many critics doubted Steohanie White’s players’ abilities to stand against the elites of the league, they reached the semifinal of the 2025 WNBA playoffs and even stretched the Aces to Game 5 overtime.
Looking at their impressive run, an interviewer asked AB about her analysis of the success. The player was quick to respond with ‘team chemistry’ as a success mantra for the Fever.
“Honestly, just the way that we love each other and the way that we want to compete for each other. I think we have been able to just build such great relationships with each other. When things get tough, we don’t run. We come together and we talk about it and we have discussions and I feel like that’s just helped us so much throughout this entire season,” Boston said.

The Fever will have Boston under contract till the end of the 2026 season and will be looking to provide her with much support alongside Kelsey Mitchell and Caitlin Clark to win a championship. While many other fever players will be free agents, it will be interesting to watch who makes to the 2026 roster after impressing in the current season.
