The Gainbridge Fieldhouse will host the 2025 WNBA All-Star game for the first time in the franchise’s history. The decision taken in August last season was one of the byproducts of the ‘Caitlin Clark Effect’. Fans also didn’t disappoint as the tickets were sold within seven hours. Everyone wants to see CC once again doing ‘magic’ on the court.
In her first All-Star appearance, she set the record for most assists by a rookie in the annual event. She missed the all-time record by a single assist and will look to beat that on July 19, on her home court. While it could be an incredible achievement, many think the 23-year-old will not be the shining star on the big night.
ESPN Snubs Caitlin Clark For 2025 All-Star MVP Award
It’s impossible to see the Fever guard not considered for any award or a record. She was nearly a unanimous Rookie of the Year in her first season and a contender for the regular season MVP award. She won the Rookie title (66 out of 67 votes) and finished fourth in the MVP race. So, an All-Star game at home would put CC a frontrunner for the game’s MVP title. But ESPN analysts think the other way.
Kevin Pelton picked Aliyah Boston for the All-Star MVP award. He mentioned that the players from the Fever team will benefit from the game. With the Fever Forward’s current form, she is a favorite. He added that the former USC star has an NCAA title, showcasing her ability to shine on the biggest stage. Alexa Philippou agreed with a few points but picked Boston and CC’s teammate Kelsey Mitchel for the accolade.
“I’m following Pelton’s train of thought of the hometown stars showing up big. But guards have dominated All-Star Game MVP in recent years, so I think it’ll be one of Boston’s Fever teammates, Clark or Mitchell,” Philippou mentioned in her article (Via ESPN).
Adding to her points, she didn’t pass on the 23-year-old guard, highlighting that ‘she has a penchant for meeting the moment.’ She even mentioned that Mitchell deserves the award, citing her current form and loyalty to the franchise through the tough times. Luckily for CC, she chose both her teammates as promised and can expect to win the game with MVP on the roster.

In the recent five seasons, guards have dominated the MVP awards, with Fever’s Erica Wheeler winning the title in 2019 in Las Vegas. Indiana fans will want another Fever player to lift the trophy; it could be AB, CC, or veteran guard Mitchell.
Caitlin Clark And Napheesa Collier’s Teams Could Break WNBA All-Star Records
The annual event is to entertain fans with star players collaborating for high-quality performances. Over the past 20 editions of the event, there have been many impressive feats. A few records can be broken in the 2025 edition.

The most points scored by a team were 143, by Team Stewart in 2023. Many of the 2023 lineup are still in the lineup, and with the addition of other explosive scorers, fans might see another high-scoring game. Similarly, CC nearly broke the assists record last season and will look to achieve that feat in 2025.
Similarly, no single-game rebound record is safe with Angel Reese in the lineup. The Chi-Town Barbie will look for the same when playing for Team Collier. Arike Ogunbowale scored 34 points, most in a single edition, last season. Breaking this record will also be a great chance for the scorer to claim the MVP title.
